Zaffron: The Ideal Choice for a Wedding Reception
Advantages: Great food, friendly professional service, nice atmosphere Disadvantages: None, but don't expect it to be cheap - you get what you pay for
...reception, and this is where Zaffron comes in. Our Thomas Cook Wedding co-ordinator asked us a few questions about what we were after, how many people etc., and recommended Zaffron from a number of restaurants she had in her file. She gave us the contact details and it was up to us to go and arrange it.
The prospect of arranging it ourselves directly with the owners was pretty daunting at first, after all the whole reason we'd gone for the package ... ...really needn't have worried.
Zaffron is a family run restaurant and this means that you get an excellent standard of service and a personal touch. I understand that Ciao does not permit mentioning people's names without their consent, which is a pity really as they deserve a mention. So instead I'll just say that Zaffron is run by husband and wife team B and S, and their daughter. It is located on the main road out to Coral Bay from Paphos, which ...

Panicos on the Streets of Pervolia
Advantages: Great atmosphere, good food, attentive service and Panicos Disadvantages: Eastern European staff make proceedings slightly less authentic
...the Cypriot swing of things. Soutsos Taverna, run by a real local character called Panicos, has been our first night destination for the last four or five visits. We visited twice during our latest two week stay, but this review is an amalgamation of our overall impressions over several visits in recent years. LOCATION Soutsos is in the heart of the town of Pervolia, next to the town hall and across the street from the main church – Agios Irini ... ...FOOD Soutsos provides a typical and genuine Cypriot taverna menu. It features the usual host of starters and hot and cold mezedes (Euro 2 to 4 if ordered individually) supplemented by some excellent grills – souvla, souvlakia, steaks and chops - and standout local specialities such as afelia, sheftalia, stifado, pastitsio, rabbit stew and moussaka. The excellent kleftiko and lamb tavvas are only available on Saturday (while supplies last). ...

The Monte Carlo - A Very Safe Bet for Fresh Fish
Advantages: Excellent selection of fresh fish. Great service. Disadvantages: A little pricey.
...excellent fish taverna – the Monte Carlo - a stones throw away from the bright lights and bustle of the Finikoudes (the main palm-lined sea-front promenade in Larnaka Town) which we now visit at least once for dinner during our holidays. FIRST IMPRESSIONS As you drive (or walk) around the bulk of the old Venetian Fort which anchors the west end of the Finikoudes, the playful chaos of the promenade melts away behind you, and you find yourself ... ...windier days. The Monte Carlo is a short way down from the fort and very hard to miss. The brightly lit main dining room of the restaurant is perched directly over the sea on a concrete pier, with the kitchens, toilets and indoor restaurant actually located in the building across the road. The Cypriots have the most liberal attitude to parking I have ever seen, so you can pretty much deposit your car where you like (within reason of course). We entered ...

One of my Worst Experiences
Advantages: NONE Disadvantages: Poor Service and Bad Food
From the moment we entered the Kokalakia restaurant we were faced with a very negative experience!
Firstly, they had no sign of our reservation which we had personally made. This was meant to be a special occassion and we requested to be seated at a nice table. Instead we were stuck in a corner behind a big group and we could never get the attantion of the staff. It took 20 minutes to eventaully order and then it took on average at least 30 - 40 ...
