After searching through the usual pile of places to visit,I suddenly thought of North Cyprus,but how does one get there? I asked myself, after looking it up on the web I soon came up with some ideas and suggestions, 1.On the the official website www.trnc.net I was pointed towards Cyprus Turkish Airlines,they fly to North Cyprus (Ercan Airport,Nicosia)locally pronounced erjan. What a suprise I got,My flight was direct from Stansted to Ercan with a stop at Izmir on the Turkish mainland due to the fact that following the 1974 conflict in Cyprus between the Greeks and Turks the airport is not officially recognised,I would recommend the visit to anyone,the airline was punctual,simple to book,clean and helpful staff and very competative on price and I would also add that the country is far superior to the south of the island.I stayed at The Riverside Complex myself and was absolutely over the moon with it.The airline now has its own holiday website now and is worth a look in, www.ctaholidays.com

Thank you Mr Reed for writing a brief but honest opinion on what is sadly the only established carrier that flies direct(ish!) to Northern Cyprus (apart from THY which involves an aircraft change in Turkey).
It is refreshing to see that someone understands that there is only so much that a restricted airline can do in terms of schedule, routes and service.

Er...excuse me Mr Reed...why have you posted such a rude comment regarding my opinion on Airtours??? Even if I've disagreed with someone's opinion I have never, ever insulted them. How would you like to be stuck in an airport for 29 hours with little to eat, barely enough water and having to sleep on the floor, when you have paid good money to the airline to get you home..??? Funny how nobody else has rated my opinion as unhelpful...does that not make you think? I see you are new to Ciao so you probably haven't realised yet that Ciao members do not tolerate such unnecessary rudenesss. Anyway, don't bother commenting on any more of my opinions; I only take criticism from those who have something constructive and informative to say. This is a consumer site and the information I give here is supposed to help others make a more informed choice when booking their holiday. Perhaps you would rather me lie and say everything with Airtours was wonderful?? Ciao! wouldn't be a lot of use to the consumer then, would it?
