Advantages: I do like Sasha Baron Cohen's characters Disadvantages: Too rude, too obnoxious, trying too hard
After finding myself at the cinema on a Sunday afternoon having been convinced that Bruno is a worthwhile watch, I decided within mere minutes of it starting that I had been clearly naive in thinking that it was an easy going, crowd pleasing film. Starring Sasha Baron Cohen, the man behind Ali G and Borat, I had safely assumed it was going to be a bit controversial, but usually the persona of the main character generally making it just about okay to laugh at the political-incorrectness.
The protagonist of the story is Bruno, a gay Austrian fashionista who, after being fired from his local TV show following a chaotic Velcro Catsuit incident, embarks on a journey to Hollywood to become the "most famous Austrian since Hitler". The fabric of the storyline, narrated by Bruno himself, is simple enough: Bruno's rejection after rejection, then ...

One of the highlights of our trip to Tuscany last year was to be our visit to Pisa. To be accurate, the main attraction was not so much the city of Pisa itself, charming though it undoubtedly is, but the Field of Miracles*. Well, to be punctiliously precise, it wasn't even the Field of Miracles that had our anticipatory juices flowing, but The Leaning Tower of Pisa in particular.
* The Field of Miracles is the area housing the Duomo, Tower, Baptistry and associated buildings.
To be honest, if you discount the Field of Miracles, I'm not sure that much else in Pisa merits a visit although I expect some Pisaphile will soon put me straight on that count. However, it can't be denied that the seething masses that are constantly disgorged from the tourist buses usually have one thing in mind and that's to take one of those corny snaps ...
Advantages: Good acting, funny in parts Disadvantages: outragous butit's all been done before now
Bruno is Sasha Baron Cohen's latest creation, a 19 year old gay super model from Austria. I watched this last night and so here is my film only review
Story
The story, filmed like Borat in a documentary style, starts with Bruno at the height of his fame in Europe, model, fashionista and presenter of televisions, Funky time. Bruno seems to have it all, fame, money and the love of his life with whom he enjoys a very adventerous sex life.
That is until it all goes wrong afer a misjudged outfit choice on Bruno's part involving a velcro suit. Bruno loses his job on funky time and becomes a nobody.
Bruno decides the only way to become famous is to conquer the States and heads to L..A with his assistant Lutz. After trying acting, making his own pilot T.V show, a sex tape and attempting to bring peace to the middle east, as well as a major ...

The decor is typical, cluttered trattoria -- paintings of the Duomo, pictures of the owner with famous people and of the local soccer team, copper pots -- for this is a typical trattoria that has been dignified to ristorante status only through its years of deserved success. It specializes in tried-and-true Pisan dishes. The prosciutto con crostini antipasto is as good as it comes, to be followed by pasta e ceci (pasta with garbanzo beans) or zuppa pisana (a very bready Pisan ribollita). Although you can order well-turned versions of agnello arrosto (roast lamb) or coniglio al forno (baked rabbit), the famous secondo here is a Pisan baccalą con porri, salt cod cooked with leeks and tomatoes. Try the tiramisł sundae, with chocolate chips and syrup on top.
