Da Gemma is reached by passing through a vaulted tunnel beginning at Piazza Umberto I and winding through dark underground passages. The cuisine includes authentic versions of Caprese favorites, with an emphasis on fish, as well as more modern dishes such as pizzas. You might begin with a creamy version of mussel soup, followed by one of many kinds of grilled fish, as well as filets of veal or chicken prepared with lemon and garlic or with Marsala wine. A specialty is a fritta alla Gemma, a medley of fried foods that includes fried zucchini blossoms, potato croquettes, fried mozzarella, and a miniature pizza. Pastas include linguine with scampi and pappardelle with porcini mushrooms. During warm weather, the site expands from its cramped 14th-century core onto a covered open-air terrace with sweeping views of the Gulf of Naples. (To reach the terrace, you'll have to wander through the same labyrinth of covered passages and then cross the street.)
Advantages: Lots to see and do Disadvantages: not enough time
...< Brief History Of Capri >
Age cannot wither her nor package tours stale her infinite variety. The colours and fragrance of Mediterranean and sub-tropical vegetation, elegant patrician villas, romantic Roman ruins amid mountain greenery, overlooking blue, blue waters washing secluded coves and mysterious grottoes-all seduce the willing visitor. Emperor Tiberius was charmed into building 12 villas here; an heir to the Krupp steel fortune turned away from the family business; and countless painters and poets have forgotten to go home.

We got the hydrofoil from the marina piccolo which takes twenty minutes or so. As we approached Capri I was amazed...

Advantages: Beautiful Views, secluded location Disadvantages: No restaurant in the hotel
...We had hoped to go to Sardinia, but that was out of our price range. Italy has always been a favourite so when we found we could afford go to Capri we were really excited.
The Hotel Weber Ambassador were really helpful from start to finish. We booked direct through their website which saved money on the Expedia listed price, though I think it would depend whether you were going high season or not.
Originally we were a little apprehensive having read the mixed reviews on trip advisor, but being of the disposition that a holiday is what you make it we packed ourselves off and flew into Naples.
An Italian bus ride across town to the port and battle through the ticket touts for a boat ticket and we were on our way.
Despite arriving late and dark the hotel had given us clear instructions about how to ring them (toll-free) when...

I know Bostonianbeer has done a review on Da Sandro which we visited in Venice this year.
But I feel duty bound to put a CALZONE fanactics point of view.
How to find Da Sandro.
Cross over the Rialto Bridge and continue ahead until you see a kind of main street leading to your left, it should be called Vecchia San Giovanni, it has shops down the lengh of it. When it ends in a small square diagonally oposite you will see a small alley/street C di Mezzo this will lead you to Campiello dei Meloni, look around and you will see Da Sandro,
The Restaurant has two rooms on either side of the street, the one on the right has tables out front enclosed in a tented area.
The seats...
