Every year we like to go to Newquay for a fortnight’s holiday and whenever the weather is not good enough for the beach, we like to visit attractions that my daughter would love. About three years ago, we went to Dairyland and have been every year since.

Dairyland is situated on the A3058, we tend to stop in the centre of Newquay and found it took about 10 minutes in the car.

The entrance costs are as follows:

Adults & Children £9.95
Children under 90cm – Free
Less abled £7.95

From the beginning of April until the end of October, it is open from 10am to 5pm; the rest of the year it is only the Bull Pen which is open. The Bull Pen is a large indoor play area. I would recommend if you are going just for this, to get there early as the seating is limited, having said that, the seating is situated to give a view of all the play centre so I was able to keep my eye on Lauren at all times. There are three huge slides, (1 astra and 2 drop slides) Lauren was a little too small to go on these on her own but adults are allowed on too and they were great fun!

When you arrive, there is animal feed available to buy (I think it is about 50p a bag). This is actually cheaper than my local farm attraction so I was quite pleased with this.

As you walk around, you are greeted by lots of animals; pigs, cows, peacocks, chickens, ducks, horses, goats, deer, chinchillas and there is even an aviary. As well as the animals, there is lots of equipment for the little ones to play on such as swings, roundabouts, mini tractors, trampolines, climbing frames and zip wires. There are also a couple of museums, one showing how they milked cows in the 1800’s, another about the generations worked in Cornwall such as making bread and cider.

During the day there are lots of free events taking place and a timetable is given to you when you arrive, there are also announcements over the load speakers to remind you when events are starting. The events consist of milking cows, bottle feeding the baby animals, pat a pet – my daughter loved this, she was able to sit and hold a rabbit, guinea pig and rat. There are also event which you can pay for such as a hay ride which takes you all around the grounds and pony rides, although you had to pay, they were only a couple of pound each and you can either pay at the kiosk when you first arrive or there are token machines situated around the grounds.

What I really love is that the above prices are for unlimited trips for 7 days. We always make sure we go on the first day of bad weather (for the last few years this has been pretty early on in the fortnight!) to ensure we can get our moneys worth. Yo0u do have to say you wish to return when you first arrive, I would definitely recommend saying yes, even if you don’t get around to going again, at least then you have the choice.

There is a snack bar in the Bull Pen; the gift shop sells ice cream and cold drinks and also a restaurant, Clarabelle Kitchen. The snack bar charged around £1.50 for a cappuccino and about £1.50 for a Fruit Shoot, I have never purchased food as there are plenty picnic benches for us to consume out own food however the food outlets were always quite busy.

I would say that Dairyland is definitely wheelchair and pushchair friendly, the first time we went we were with my sister and her two children; we had 3 pushchairs and didn’t experience any problems getting around.

To leave Dairyland, you exit through a small gift shop, this sells a wide variety of items, mainly with a farm or animal theme, price start from as little as 50p and there are some nice little souvenirs to be had. We purchased some Sylvanian’s and a tractor and Lauren still plays with them now.

Overall I would definitely recommend, although for us it cost £30, the fact that you can return as much as you want for 7 days makes it worth it!

5 out of 5 stars from me.

Thanks for reading
