Advantages TURKA CAFE

Disadvantages SKY HIGH catering prices Air Side

We used Dalaman Airport when we went on Holiday to Olu Deniz, transfer time was about an Hour.

Arrival was quite scenic on the run in to Landing.
It has a long runway so no Full Reverse Thrust needed here.

Aeroplane was able to get close to arrivals, so just a short walk, no bus transfer.

On arrival you first need to queue to buy your Entry Visa for Turkey, at the moment it costs £10 which must be in sterling, no change given, so make sure you have £10 notes in good condition, may have problem if note is tatty.
There were two booths, so queues at both.

Noticed though, if you are a family with children, it seemed OK for just one to preset Passports and money, but have seperate £10 notes.

For this they stick a stamp in your passport, then off you go to passport control.

Here they stamp your new stamp with date of entry.

Now off to baggage reclaim, it did not seem too long, just the usual problem of unsupervised children trying to climb on the carousel. And panic merchants who think their cases will come quicker if they push to the front.

So on arrival not much different to most Holiday Airports.

Departure.

When arriving for departure, first on entry are queues for baggage xray, all luggage has to pass thru, cases and cabin bags.

Then to the queue for checkin, again as you would expect from most airports, but they had 4 desks for our flight so not too bad.

Now comes the important bit.
Our rep gave us this one.

If you have time then go to the right end of the checkin desks,, where the toilets are.
You will see some stairs that lead up to TURKA CAFE.

They have a menu, but soon approahced by staff who explained that the Sandwich (Listed at 10 Turkish Lira about £3.10) Came with Salad and chips and a sokt drink (Coke Sprite etc)
So went for it.

Seated at a table, and after about 15 mins the food and drink arrived.
A nice fresh 9 inch torpedo roll with fresh filling, and salad and chips on the plate.

Lookin round they also had a buffet and the Airport Workers were obviously pleased with this.

I mention this place as after security, again quite quick as several gates in operation.

The catering prices go thru the Roof.
250 ml Bottle of Water £3.
McDonalds meal £16 etc etc.

So if you want to eat Air Side take something to airport with you.
But if time then Turka Cafe does the business.

Boarding and departure as normal, there were plenty of seats and the airport feels large and modern.
