Lakeside setting makes for special experience

Advantages: Marvellous location
Disadvantages: The road surrounding the Lake which at peak times is rather noisy

Everyone knows the tourist-packed shores of Windermere and Ambleside. But very few visitors make the trip a few miles north to see the less crowded charms of the Northern Lakes. That's a shame as Bassenthwaite, just outside e Keswick, is a stunningly beautiful location and at its head, surrounded by trees, is country house hotel Armathwaite Hall. Until recently a family home, the Hall is an imposing stone building straight out of an Agatha Christie drama. To step inside is to step back into the past. But, despite appearances, the hotel has been brought into line with modern tastes and all the bedrooms have been refurbished in retro style with the latest en suite facilities, furniture and fittings of the highest standard, and beds of top-class comfort. As you enter the Hall, you will be ...

Buckatree Hall Hotel

Advantages: In a remote scenic area, lots of facilites
Disadvantages: slightly expensive but still worth it

Buckatree Hall Hotel - Telford Shropshire The hotel stated above is part of the Swallow Hotels chain, not like your average chain hotel this one is stunning my other half and I stayed there a couple of times going back after the first visit as we enjoyed it so much. It is a 2 star hotel but I believe it is well worth of more, it has 62 rooms catering for all needs and being very family friendly, they have single rooms, double rooms and family rooms and where possible will arrange and room to suit your individual needs. Buckatree Hall Hotel is situated just off the M54 in a remote location down a few back roads, it has a peaceful quiet surrounding area which puts you in the mood for your relaxing break away. There are several tourist attractions not far via car journey such as, Telford Shopping Centre, Park, Bowling Ally, Ice ...

Lakeside Hotel - Good Facilities, Poor Rooms

Advantages: Excellent Food, Lovely setting, Good Pool
Disadvantages: Poor Rooms

The lakeside hotel is set in beautifull lakedistrict on the banks of Lake Windermere. I decided to treat my wife to a 2 night break away. We went for the best room in the hotel hoping for a romantic break. Well it hasnt been the worst £500 ive spent but i must say i was a little dissappointed with the hotel for the money. The Room: The room looked really quite dated and old, i realise this is an old hotel but that should add to the character and charm of your stay. The bedroom was small, had a nice view if you could put up with the draft coming through the windows. The bathroom was a reasonable size but the sunken bath looked as if it hadnt been washed properly for a long time. Similarly the shower was difficult to get to the correct temprature and the sinks were in a similar condition to the bath. In all honestly it looked as if ...
