Since then I have been a bit of a mad fan,I have turned up to every exhibition I can think of.Been to the Tate a couple of times to see a couple of originals of his.it was with great interest that I saw a permenant exhibition of his work and influence in the centre of London,at south bank.
I went to London,to the south bank, saw some beautiful statues influenced by some of his work outside.I paid the entrance fee and stepped in.The corridor walk to the main exhibition room was very atmospheric,it had recordings of his voice over some music, quotes on the wall from him and strange photos. This set quite an atmosphere and filled me full of anticipation for what was to come.
The main exhibition hall ws full of Dali watercolours, sculpture and dali furniture. One of the most impressive parts to the exhibition was the backdrop painting done by Dali for Hitchcocks' "spellbound," this is huge and has to be seen to be beliieved. It is hard to wander round this exhibition without a sense of awe over his work,Dali fan or not.
Towards the end of the exhibition were a selection of Dali signed prints and originals;believe me all the times I wish i had a few hundred thousand quid,I wish that was one of them. The exhibition also has a small cafe and gift shop.
This is an impresive exhibition,it would be more impressive had it featured some of Dalis' more powerful original oil paintings, and I must say the ticket price was quite steep.Dali fan or not this is an impressive exhibition, even for atmosphere alone.
...incredible skillful paintings. The Dali Universe shows an awful lot more.
The entrance is littered with his quotes. Many suggest strongly that he is not in the slightest bit insane but simply portraying a calculated image to set him apart from other artists. Dali certainly succeeded with that.
Supposedly, approximately one hour is the average time it takes to stroll around this fascinating collection. How anyone can devote only one hour is beyond ... ...statues present by themselves while ignoring completely all of the watercolours and collages. These would take at least another hour or two. Be prepared for an entralling afternoon Be warned that it will also be tiring as there were only three chairs on route.
Unfortunately, there is such a poor excuse for a shop at the end of the collection that you will just have to rely on wonderful memories. ...

Advantages: Some great, original Dali works whether you are a great fan of art or not... Disadvantages: ...but more than you can take in one visit
The 'Dali Universe' is a new gallery based around the modern surrealist artist, Salvador Dali. He produced vast quantities of paintings, sketches, and sculptures. His Red Lips sofa is perhaps the most famous of them all, and this can be seen here. From the moment you walk in, you are surrounded by Dali's bizarre work. His pictures and sculptures take time to look at, as almost all can be interpreted on more than one layer. You can just glance and ... ...you can look at each and every one of them, finding details and odd visual contradictions. My biggest problem with the gallery was the scale - there was too much here to spend the time the work deserves. The lack of decent seating and the cramped layout meant I was exhausted by the end. However, this was more than made up by the breadth and scope of the gallery, and the skills of the artist. The work on display ranges from a fifty foot painting on ...

the week. The obvious comparison is with Funland Trocadero. Namco station is smaller and has fewer machines (obviously) but the trick here is that Namco Station has fewer duplicates and better quality (as they are aiming at an older age group). Also there are fewer children in general meaning that you don't have to worry about offending someones mother when you curse your friends for crossing the line first or shunting you into a wall. Finally the average game is 30p (including Tekken Tag) whereas its 50p in Funland.
