Advantages: Amazing rooms with amazing decor, Quiet area, Rooftop Pool, Gym, Free shuttle to skytrain stop Disadvantages: None
My partner and I stayed at the Davis Bangkok last year whilst on our gap year, and it was the most memorable hotel that we visited. Slightly out of town, and reasonably dear (£45 pere night) located in the quieter Sukhumvit area, we felt that it was a good base to rest in before entering the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, via the skytrain.

Our room was in the annex that is a one minute walk from the main hotel, this section being more recently built. The hotel prides iself on being a 'boutique' hotel with ultimate care taken over interior design, which showed throughout. The room was decorated in a contemporary style and though the view wasn't spectacular, the room made up for it. The bathroom was large and had marble floors, with a bath and seperate shower. There was a large mirror and the lighting was well placed. A nice featuree was the large window through the bathroom into the main bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and very large! There were many satellite channels available on the tv. We had room service one night, chicken satay, which was very nice and nasi lemak. There was absolutley masses of space ein the room for baggage and shopping, and there was also closet space, a sofa and a table with fresh fruit on every day. Also as we had been travelling we used the hotel laundry service, which while prompt was quite dear. Literally twenty seconds walk from the hotel was a small complex with four or five fine restaurants and there was a tescos around the corner!! The gym was reasonably well equipped and the rooftop pool was lovely and offered a great vantage point for the city. I would definitely recommend a stay in the Davis Bangkok, however, wee felt that a week was too long to be in Bangkok as Thailand has so many other gems.
Advantages: Clean, comfortable and extremely pleasant Disadvantages: Facade is not great
I stayed at this hotel in May 05 and i must say that this was a really great hotel! I think that it is extremly underrated. When we first arrived at the hotel, my impression from just looking at the outside was not great. But that all changed as soon at we stepped into the lobby! The staff were extremely friendly and curteous. They showed us to our rooms and explained how everything worked. The room we were in was extremely large for a standard twin ... ...at in Thailand.
I must admit that although the food was good, it wasn't great but there is a wide selection to choose from so it is easy to avoid something that you don't like. The presentation of the food was excellent.
They have a roof top swimming pool which is quite small and basic but it does its jobs. Sun loungers are few and far between but the pool was never over crowded while we were there.
They have a small gym with two treadmills, two ...

Advantages: Just a fantastic hotel! Disadvantages: Location a little out of the way but not too far to travel
We stayed in the Davis last year, in the area Sukhumvit. It was little out of the area of Siam centre, but nothing the Sky train line couldn't fix.
There are two parts of this hotel. We stayed in the annex, which is just around the corner from the main lobby - what a nice lobby!
Our room was fantastic, even though it looked directly into a shanty type slum, but needless to say, it was quite an interesting sight!
It featured a bathroom with a huge ... ...window which you could watch TV whilst in the bath!
We also had a huge king bed - (so luxurious compared to our stays in beach huts in Koh Phanghan!) plenty of floor space for our gear, and also complimentary fruit - delicious!
The food was safe (no tummy bugs!)and quite good. The thai version of western food mainly, but tasty.
The gym and pool were great - a little small, but such great decor and equipment, it didn't matter.
The staff we're ...
