I've been to Davos on three separate occasions, all lasting three weeks. The first time I went I was just 14. The last time I visited Davos was this summer (2000) at the age of 19. Davos offers so many things to the tourists. Fantastic transport services, free use of transport within the area for all tourists, and they always run on time. There is a huge sports centre, which includes an ice rink which is also open during the summer. There are many tenniscourts, a golf course and many other sports facilities available. For those not so interested in sports can shop at their hearts content. The main shopping street connects Davos Platz with Davos Dorf. It offers shops ranging from designer names to the more local high street names. There is also a cinema which screens many films, often dubbed or subtitled, recently released. During the summer, Davos has late night shopping nights where many of the shops open up again and the entire shopping boulevard is closed off to traffic. These nights always fall on Fridays and start around 19:00 and go on into the small hours. Many of the bars open up onto the streets (weather permitting!) with park benches, there's entertainment for the children of all ages, and there are many tasting sessions in the bakeries! The scenery in Davos is one of the most picturesque I've seen in the whole of Switzerland. There are so many walks ranging from one hour to more than six hours to choose from. After a total of nine weeks in Davos I still have many walks left to complete. For those who find climbing difficult most of the mountains offer cable cars. Davos is not only suitable for summer holidays. The mountains offer many skiing opportunities. Davos is very well known amongst the Dutch and Germans for both the walks and the skiing. The Davos inhabitants proudly boast their mountain air is great for asthmatics and other people with respiratory problems. In fact, there's a Dutch Asthma Centre and there are many other "hospitals". Davos is a place that will keep you occupied for weeks. Davos also boasts a lake which is widely used in the summer for surfing and canoeing. The lake is surrounded by a footpath which will take you through the forest on one side and the lakeside on the other. Davos is truly an ideal spot for young and old. I would really recommend going to Davos, either in the winter or in the summer. I am definitely going back!

Advantages: Complete flexibility; The company motto is: "nothing is too much trouble"; It has a large following of guests who come back year after year; Reps are experts on their resort, speak the local language, and are available 24 hours a day. Disadvantages: Expensive; Switzerland is not much of a party nation, so ravers are better off in Ibiza.
