Advantages clean, good breakfast
Disadvantages dated rooms
The Days Inn Mystic in Mystic, Connecticut is part of the same chain Days Inn - Inns, Hotels & Suites. Like all hotels in the chain it can be recognised from afar with the logo with the big yellow sun on a blue background.
The Days Inn Mystic is located, as already mentioned, in Mystic, Connecticut. Mystic itself is named after the river, Mystic River. Mystic is worth a visit because here there is a very beautiful whaling port, which is worth a look when you are nearby. In the vicinity of Mystic, there are also a large casino operated by an Indian tribe - the Foxwood Casino, which is well worth seeing - even if you do not want to squander your money. The hotel itself is located on a major road, a mile outside the city center, so pretty central. On the street where the hotel is are many other hotels. The hotel is well signposted, so that the entrance to the large free car park really should not be overlooked.
The Days Inn Mystic is a flat, elongated building with bright paint. It's a little laid back from the road and has a covered entrance area. The hotel features an outdoor pool, which of course is open only in summer. There is also a fitness room. With 121 rooms - on ground or first floor - is a medium sized hotel. Conveniently we could park directly in front of our room and through the door to the outside, we were immediately at the car. The doors can be opened only with the magnetic card for the room. The hallways have a normal width and are carpeted. Our room was located to the parking lot and was on the ground floor. The room has an old-fashioned decor with flower ceiling and wooden furniture. The carpet is patterned with colorful squares and was a bit spotty in some places. Also the bedspread was no longer the newest. Two small spots were seen there, but everything smelled fresh. The four pillows and duvet, however, were free of stains. From the other room we heard no noise, all the guests were either quite quiet, or the walls are well insulated.
The room has two armchairs and matching colors to set up a small round table. There is a large (empty) refrigerator and a microwave and a coffeemaker. Opposite the bed is a dresser. This provides little space for clothes, which for us was not so bad, because we only stayed one night and did not want to unpack. In the top drawer of the dresser the TV is integrated. The bathroom is actually very small and houses next to the toilet and a bathtub with shower curtain. The walls of the bathroom are very thin, they look like cardboard when you press it lightly. Because the walls are very thin, of course, you can hear every sound in the room. Tub, floor, curtain and toilet were clean and free of mold.
The breakfast room is a large room with a glass front facing the street. You enter through a swinging door, where is a sign that you cannot take food or drinks from the room. The white breakfast bar is long with next to waffles, you also had the choice of toast, bagels, muffins and other baked goods, jams, peanut butter and cream cheese. Moreover, apples and bananas and a choice of cornflakes. Coffee and tea taste good. The Days Inn Mystic is a simple two-star hotel with simple but clean rooms. The rooms are rather dated, but have everything you need. Also the breakfast was very good and we certainly enjoyed our stay. Four stars.
