LOCATION
Demuths is located on 2North Parade passage, near the Abbey, a perfectly central location. It is surrounded by other restaurants, but please don't be distracted! - GO TO DEMUTHS!

My boyfriend and I have just come back from a 3 day break in Bath and for his birthday we had dinner at DeMuths, a vegetarian restaurant. We had heard good things through various website promoting Bath and were keen to try it out for ourselves. We rang up for a late booking and were happily slotted in for 9pm.
On our arrival our first impressions were that the restaurant was small but cosy rather than cramped and the atmosphere was warm and extremely friendly. We were seated and presented with menus and a wine list. The menu is quite short and we first thought that there was a lack of choice, however upon close examination we realised the the dishes all looked so appetising that we were in fact spoiled for choice.
FOOD For starters we ordered the beetroot pink polenta and the fennel and sage tortelini (i was so impressed that 3 days later i stilll remember exactly what we ordered!). These dishes were incredible - unusual flavours but all so delicately balanced and just worked so well. The dishes were also a nice size for starters, perhaps a little on the big size, but i'm hardly going to whine about that!
For our mains we had the mexican mole (a variety of spiced veg with a mexican chilli chocolate mole served with rice and sour cream) and the sweet potato cauliflour gratin. We also ordered side orders of rosemary potatoes and caramalised lemony carrots. My gratin was the best i have ever tasted and despite being incredibly full was reluctant to stop eating! My partners mole (i know that sounds a bit odd!) was nice too although the mole wasn't really to our taste. It was however an interesting dish and the rice and veg were cooked perfectly. We bothe loved the side dishes and even when i had finished eating and could not possibly eat another bite (haha), could not stop myself from squeezing another potato into my mouth!
We were so incredibly full that we thought it wise to share a pudding between us - although the selcetion of puddings is one of the best i've seen for choice and all look so amazing that i wanted to order them all just to see what they looked like. We opted for the organic honey and ginger ice-cream, although i spent quite some time deliberating between this and the dark choc fudge cake. Once again we were happy with our choice! Food - superb.
PRICE The dishes are very nicely priced with starters at the standard price of £6.95 and i think the mains ranged from £13 to £15. Side dishes were £2.95 to £3.95 and finally puddings were about £6.00. This is not an expensive restaurant and you get far far more than you pay for!
ATMOSPHERE and LAYOUT Be warned, this is not really a wheel-chair friendly zone with the toilets and some seating being down a steep staircase. Other than this, Demuths is a beautiful restaurant lit by tea lights with perfectly spaced tables to fit parties of 2, like ourselves, up to 6. It's small so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment. The restaurant is open till 10, although we did not leave till 11 due to our late booking. However staff were lovely and assured us that we did not need to rush and were welcome as long as we were there.
The menu is very well laid out, with each dish specifically saying weather it's vegan or wheat free or gluten free etc.

Advantages: The best meal I've ever had Disadvantages: None
*INTRO
Quite simply, Demuths is exceptional. The premises, the decor, the staff, the ambiance are all very pleasing indeed, but above everything the food is extra special.
As a vegetarian of nearly two decades, and a lover of food for far longer, the meal I had at Demuths was without question the best I have ever eaten. It was delicious.
Demuths is a vegetarian restaurant that caters exquisitely for vegans too, but please all you meat eaters don't ... ...On my second visit to DeMuths my starter was the very enjoyable beetroot and pea patties, which was very popular with other diners that evening too..
***MAIN COURSES
My main course had a really hard act to follow but the Mediterranean Mezze did not disappoint. The Falafels and dips combined superbly with the colourful salad and the side order of rosemary potatoes. Before I tucked into my main course I was wondering whether or not I'd made a mistake ...
