Texel: the largest of the Dutch Wadden Islands

Advantages: Easy to reach from the mainland
Disadvantages: Some areas are overcrowded with tourists in the summer

If you're looking for a peaceful holiday, Texel in the months July and August is definitely not the place to be. Although the mass tourism concentrates in the western part of the island (De Koog-area), is's hard to find some quiet spots in these months. The eastern part (the Wadden side) is all year long much quieter, with the possible exception of Oudeschild, the target harbour of many authentic sailing ships and modern yachts. So the best time to visit Texel is (late) Spring or (early) Autumn. Like the other islands Texel is ideal for cyclists, although it has less special cycling paths than the others. Dux de Lux - review of Christchurch Restaurant

Advantages: Central location, price, food quality, vegetarian friendly, vegan-friendly, gluten free options
Disadvantages: Not a lot for fussy eaters

Dux De Lux is an ?aquatarian? restaurant/bar complex in Christchurch, New Zealand that offers great food for vegetarians (and pescetarians) at a reasonable price. Dux de Lux is a complex that is divided into several parts ? including the restaurant, three bars, and two outside seating areas. This review is about the restaurant. The atmosphere The furnishing and atmosphere here are a quirky mixture of ?traditional British pub? mixed with ?gleaming school canteen? ? for the most part, the tables and surrounds are very traditional, with thick carpets and wooden panelling, but the food ...

Plum Island, More Than It Seems

Advantages: A really well written and engaging Thriller with a strong lead character
Disadvantages: If your not keen on first person perspective you may not like it

Having been near fatally wounded in the line of duty, NYPD homicide detective John Corey has left New York and gone to the Long Island township of Southold to convalesce. When two local scientists are killed on their Patio, John is asked to advise the town's police department and see if he can help solve the case. There are a number of reasons why the couple may have been killed, but the FBI and CIA are worried it has something to do with their work on Plum Island, an off shore animal disease research centre. Now Corey must try and put the pieces together and solve the crime, a crime that could have global implications. This is the second time I've picked up one of Nelson DeMille's novels and also my second encounter with detective John Corey. I've been meaning to read a few more of his for a while and like the book that introduced ...
