Advantages: Great City, Amazing Vibe, One of the Coolest places on EARTH Disadvantages: Quite far from Norwich, Norfolk, England?
....com/attractions.cfm?attractId=504&afid=5ym9q .
Some of our highlights were the Empire State Building, a tour of NBC studios, a tour of Maddison Square Gardens, a tour of Radio City Music Hall, Trip to Ellis Island, Discounts at Maceys, Sacks Fifth avenue and reduced price helicopter flights. We also managed to catch a Broadway show, Rent, directed by Sam Mendes I think. Also we saw the New York Rangers demonstrate the brutal sport of Ice Hockey.
On a stroll back from Times Square one evening walking along Broadway, we were stopped by a young lady with a clipboard. "Hi guys! wanna be in the audience for Lettermen?" she blurted out with American gusto. I felt like I should whoop as I have seen others do on Jerry Springer, but alas I refrained and calmly responded with a simple "yes, that would be very nice". It turned out you had to answer a pop question ours...

Advantages: Friendly and non-touristy Disadvantages: None - I loved it all
...When most people think of travelling to Australia their thoughts turn to Sydney, Melbourne, Alice Springs and the Great Barrier Reef. All of these are in the East and Central parts of Oz. Very few people actually consider travelling to the west coast. Perth, Western Australia, however, 1500 miles away from its nearest neighbouring city is well worth a visit. Perth has beautiful beaches, unspoilt outback, fabulous scenery and some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. Two cities in one, North and South Perth are separated by the River Swan. Advantages: food, diveristy, stuff to do Disadvantages: expensive! Scary people.
...whores and allign the street shops in the middle of the afternoon. Oh, and the disturbing midgets who paint themselves gold to resemble a statue and blow a whistle when you're not looking to try to get you to put money in their bucket. Ah yes, and last but not least, the watch and sun glass peddlers you find residing at EVERY street corner trying to sell stolen merchandise. Just walk away a bit faster once a cop comes near, sometimes they start fights, especially the female cops.
The food was very good, especially the pizza. They had interesting things to buy, though not nearly as unique as that of what you can find in the UK. Also they had a huge diversity in culture which was really interetsing to see all blend together ignoring prejudices.
In short, New York wouldn't be a vacationing area, too busy for good tourism. But I wouldn't mind...

The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
