Me and my girlfriend went to stay in De VereCarden Park in February to celebrate Valentines Day.
The hotel is very easy to find and directions are not difficult.
When you drive in through the gate the first impressions are brilliant, its about a mile drive through the gate before you reach the hotel and this is a lovely drive. The hotel sits on the top of a hill and both the view upto the hotel and down from the hotel is amazing!
We stopped at the front of the hotel and the conceirge took my car keys, brought our bags in and parked my car (this was a sign of things to come).
When we arrived at reception they were very helpful, offering us extra services. There's even an old style iced water machine on the reception desk.
The porter then took us to our rooms and carried our bags.
The grounds in the close vicinity to the rooms are lovely, lots of bench's, waterfalls and statues. The actual rooms are like small houses, when you get into the rooms they are brilliant. With a massive bed which looks out of very large bay windows (with curtains of course). There is a very nice bathroom and a small balcony. The rooms are extremely clean and there is an in room food service which also looks extremely nice. Coffee, tea and biscuits are also provided.
Your usual extras, such as a hairdryer and iron are also available, as well as a large tv.
You have the choice of two restaurants at the hotel, we decided on the less expensive one. This was a good choice, an excellent menu and good value prices. Although if we had been closer to other restaurants we may have gone outside the hotel.
The other restaurant was around £30 a head, I think this was before you had even ordered drinks.
The gym and swimming pool area were also nice, and although it wasnt very large it was adequate for our needs. Including a sauna, steam room, pool, jacuzzi etc.
The staff around the hotel were second to none, I was sitting waiting in the reception area and one of the bar staff came through to ask me if I wanted a drink.
The bar area was also excellent, they take your order as your walking in and then bring it over. Overall the staff treat you like royalty no matter who you are.
One of the best features about this hotel are the grounds, its surrounded by two golf courses and has many walks you can go on.
We only paid £70 for one night midweek for this hotel and the quality of the hotel and staff who serve it make it worth double, if not triple this amount.
Next time I come to Carden Park I will be looking to stay for an extra night and I will be bringing my golf clubs!
