We, a group of about 50 people, stayed for the weekend. For the name droppers Chubbie Brown was staying at the hotel at the same time, at least he was in the Bar
The High Light to wake up Sunday morning to hear a noise, then to realise it was the roar of lions from the zoo next door.
The hotel is a fairly new hotel with well decorated and equipped rooms, unfortunately as a "new" hotel all the rooms are standard hotel rooms. The hotel was totally lacking in character. It is true to say that the leisure complex was fairly well equipped and that the staff were, in the main, helpful and efficient. There was something about the place that just did not inspire me. Apart from being next to the zoo there is nothing which jumped out and bit me as being particularly memorable.
We ate a few times in the restaurant. Breakfast was hot buffet type (not as good as the BlackpoolHilton). The staff, particularly at Breakfast were poorly trained, at one point I was sat eating a piece of toast, I lifted the toast to my mouth and a waiter cleared the plate away as I was eating, on another occasion also at Breakfast I left my coffee at my table to collect my hot food upon my return the coffee cup had been cleared away. Evening Service was better and to be fair to the hotel the food was good. The highlight was home made summerfruit pudding with clotted cream which was a delight.
On balance i preferred the blackpool Hilton, which is comparable on pricing. when i need a hotel in Blackpool again that's where I'll stay

nice review about your experiences!
my favourite part about this hotel is its location and the grounds around it, i agree it feels a bit dead inside and the staff aren't really up to it at times, but overall i like the greenery around it!
another good review of a hotel i have been to!

Advantages: Fantastic leisure facilities, friendly staff and good customer service. Disadvantages: Very pricey, lots of business men and not enough air conditioning.
