I'm sure there are people out there who have had good flights on Delta. I'm sure there are people who relish bad customer service, miserable, uncomfortable interior design, and appalling food on outdated aircraft, but I'm not one of them, and I haven't met anyone else who is yet.

I have to admit that my attitude to this flight has been coloured somewhat by the fact that something went wrong with the in-flight film on the way over. Fair enough, there's not a great deal you can do about that - but they could have at least turned it off rather than subjecting us to the first five minutes of Driving Miss Daisy for the entire flight. And incidentally, why the hell were they showing Driving Miss Daisy??? I flew with them only last year...

The food, I thought at the time, was standard aircraft fodder, fit for nothing but handy to line your stomach with - that is, until it was surpassed easily by KLM and BA on later flights I caught. However, nothing could prepare me for the frankly rude and intimidating in-flight service. Abrupt and impatient, the stewards/esses did nothing for the experience. Maybe they'd recently flown on another aircraft and had seen what they're missing, I don't know, but there was no excuse for it.

Overall, there is no way I am flying Delta again, given that there is so much competition from far superior airlines to go transatlantic. Maybe this was because I flew out from Manchester and not London. But wherever you're going from, only use them if they're the cheapest ticket by far, and even then, don't expect much.
