Car Hire and cycling in Denmark
Advantages: Clear, well maintained roads Disadvantages: dangerous unless you read this, expensive
If you hire a car in Denmark, you should be aware of a couple of things. Although i have hired only once (my employer paid), I didn't get told about either of them.
Firstly, the cost. Denmark must be one of the worlds most expensive places to drive. The government slap a HUGE tax (c.100 percent) on the value of all new or imported cars, and this has now filtered down to all vehicles in Denmark. I recently purchased a 20-year old VW Polo and it cost ... ...the 1day, 1way car hire from Copenhagen airport to denmark cost my company around 300 GBP. Admitedly it wasn't the cheapest class of car, but even so...
Petrol costs are also high, but only on a par with england. If you can though, fill up on a sunday (preferably at one of the self-serve stations) as prices will be c.10%lower.
Secondly, and somewhat scarily, the driving laws are different. Although you can hire cars on a UK or EU license, cycling ...

Fun for everone!
Advantages: Fun for everyone! Disadvantages: Not that many really intense rides.
Legoland in Billund is underestimated compared to other major theme parks. It is great fun for kids and adults alike. It has brilliant rides and an observation tower with breathtaking views. It has a special spot for small children and some real thriller rides for older children. For afdults there is a miniature town with harbours, ships, cathedrals and many other well made building all made out of Lego! And there are some great rides for fun loving ...

2 sheep per capita
Advantages: The most beautiful place I've ever been to Disadvantages: Isolated
I went to the Faeroe Islands on my way to Iceland. In fact I HAD to go there, since the boat to Iceland dropped us off at the Faeroe Islands while going to Norway to pick up more passengers for Iceland. Therefore I had to spend two days on this group of islands. Smyril Line was the name of the ferry company, and I started my journey in Esbjerg in Denmark. The return ticket to Iceland cost less than £200. You can find some more information on http://www.smyril.co.uk.
... ...Faeroe Islands are not independent, even though they wish to be), and the small houses slowly emerged from the fog. It is a small town, with about 15000 inhabitants. On all of the islands there are about 45000 people, and twice as many sheep!
When we took off from Torshavn we drove through the fog, unable to see anything of the surroundings. However, when we started to go downhill, the fog cleared and revealed the most beautiful valley in between ...

If you like boot sales read on .......
Advantages: Gigantic Indoor Market Disadvantages: It's only on twice a year
...The Stumpemarked is held in Herning - a town which is in the middle of Jutland (the bit of Denmark which is attached to Germany). On the outskirts of town, on the A12, is a place called the Messecenter, which is a very large exhibition centre which consists of a number of halls. The Stumpemarked usually takes up to 9 of these halls, the largest of these halls can probably fit a couple of football pitches quite easily.
So what can you buy? The market ... ...on the A12 out of Herning (heading towards Varde). If you choose to drive, there is a very large car park - just follow the signs. Alternatively, there is one bus an hour from the bus terminal in the centre of Herning. If you are coming from abroad - you can fly with Maersk Air to Billund, or Ryanair to either Esbjerg or Aarhus, and then get an airport bus or what they call Limousine service to Herning.
So how did it start? My uncle tells me it ...
