2 sheep per capita
Advantages: The most beautiful place I've ever been to Disadvantages: Isolated
I went to the Faeroe Islands on my way to Iceland. In fact I HAD to go there, since the boat to Iceland dropped us off at the Faeroe Islands while going to Norway to pick up more passengers for Iceland. Therefore I had to spend two days on this group of islands. Smyril Line was the name of the ferry company, and I started my journey in Esbjerg in Denmark. The return ticket to Iceland cost less than £200. You can find some more information on http://www.smyril.co.uk.
... ...Faeroe Islands are not independent, even though they wish to be), and the small houses slowly emerged from the fog. It is a small town, with about 15000 inhabitants. On all of the islands there are about 45000 people, and twice as many sheep!
When we took off from Torshavn we drove through the fog, unable to see anything of the surroundings. However, when we started to go downhill, the fog cleared and revealed the most beautiful valley in between ...

Pleasure park for all
Advantages: unique, delightful Disadvantages: none
...childrens ticket)
Facilities:
Throughout Tivoli there are exits, toilets, food stalls, restuarants, seating - I really can't fault it.
What is it ? This is an old style outdoor pleasure park, like you have never experienced before. When you first go in there are lots of restuarants and coffee houses which are reasonably priced and serve decent meals. Then you notice the first band stand where different music is performed each evening from early ... ...beautiful gardens and a taj mahal copy restaurant (looks good not cheap) then you come across the main stage. Each night a veriety of singers, magicians and acrobats perform here and you can sit in one the cafes sipping a hot chocolate while being entertained.
Next up are the stalls of fairground games - the vendors do not tout at all - which I won at loads of times ranging from keyrings to big fluffy toys. quite cheap too (about 10p ago). There ...

Shopping with Danish pastry in hand
Advantages: Shopping Disadvantages: No money left
After reading and enjoying Moose’s op on Denmark, I felt I should enter the fray and add an op about shopping in Denmark. My mum is Danish and I estimate that if I add up all the time that I have visited Denmark through the years, I have spent 2 years of my life there. Shopping in Denmark is something that I am a bit of an expert on – mainly because I spend so much time enjoying this relaxing past time on my visits!
Ciao suggested that ... ...I’ve chosen Holstebro as this town contains most of the shops that I have highlighted in my op and it’s the site of my favourite store – Bahne. Plus, there really isn’t much else to do in Holstebro except shop! Holstebro is in Northern Jutland (Jylland if you’re Danish). But this is a general op, as I wanted people to find it helpful wherever anyone chooses to travel in Denmark. Gift Shopping

...The Stumpemarked is held in Herning - a town which is in the middle of Jutland (the bit of Denmark which is attached to Germany). On the outskirts of town, on the A12, is a place called the Messecenter, which is a very large exhibition centre which consists of a number of halls. The Stumpemarked usually takes up to 9 of these halls, the largest of these halls can probably fit a couple of football pitches quite easily.
So what can you buy? The market ... ...on the A12 out of Herning (heading towards Varde). If you choose to drive, there is a very large car park - just follow the signs. Alternatively, there is one bus an hour from the bus terminal in the centre of Herning. If you are coming from abroad - you can fly with Maersk Air to Billund, or Ryanair to either Esbjerg or Aarhus, and then get an airport bus or what they call Limousine service to Herning.
So how did it start? My uncle tells me it ...
