I went to Paris last year and to my amazement, things are cheaper than in UK. The fashion clothes for women were cheaper and more fashionable. Leather shoes and boots are equally good value for money and lots of sales in central Paris...my favourite city. I bought a pair of high leather boots for only 30 quids and loved it very much. To my disappointment, perfumes were not that cheap. I always thought that since most perfume are produced in Paris, they should be cheaper...but they aren't. I guess I still prefer to buy perfume from Debenhams and boots with my discount card though. Well, overall shopping in Paris is a fun experience and the coffee is great, except that I need at least two cups to satisfy my caffeine addiction.
Unfortunately, after 125 years service to Cardiff, David Morgan closed its doors in January 2005 with the loss of around 400 jobs.
David Morgan will be sorely missed - as borne out by numerous people in and around Cardiff.
There is a book now on sale - "David Morgan Limited: The Family Store - An Illustrated History 1879-2005" (£16.99) -an indication of how popular the store really was - a souvenir of a company that had been at the heart of commercial life in Cardiff for well over a century.
Unfortunately, as the minimum number of words in any review is 120, I am having to include this paragraph to pad things out and meet this figure - I know I'm not providing any further information but I felt it important that people are aware that the business has closed down, as it was a well known departmentstore and people may have ...
Advantages: Bargains. Designer labels. Disadvantages: Probably don't have the size you want. Or the colour. And only 1 when you wanted a pair...
Well, after yet another successful shopping trip to TK Maxx, I figured I'd write a review on the store - after all, it is my favourite!
TK Maxx is a bit of an 'Aladdin's cave' really - you never know what you may find hidden amongst the vast amount of products within the store. Envisage 'departmentstore meets jumble sale' & you might be getting the idea...
You see, TK Maxx stocks everything from ladieswear, meanswear, childrenswear, accessories, & footwear, to pans, towels & other homewares. Throw in the seasonal items, such as Easter bunnies, gardening & Santa's, & you've pretty much got everything covered. Take one or a few of each product (mostly designer names/labels), throw it on a rack or a shelf, & bingo!...the TK Maxx appeal has been achieved.
It's one of those stores where you really have to get in amongst the stock ...
Advantages: Huge range of goods Disadvantages: Expensive
Edinburgh used to be well provided for in the departmentstoredepartment, but these days they are a little thinner on the ground. You would never guess to look at me, but I'm old enough to remember the days when stores such as Binns, PT's, RW Forsyth and Goldberg's, to name just a few, were still doing a roaring trade. One store that is still going strong however, is JENNERS, an Edinburgh institution.
With it's neo-Gothic facade and it's location, directly opposite the Scott Monument, you just can't miss it. Luckily, for those who've had difficulty in spotting it, there's an optician in-house!
JENNERS is the oldest independent departmentstore in the world, having occupied its original location on Princes Street, Edinburgh, since 1838. It is home to well over 100 different departments, which sell everything from international ...
