staying one night specifically for the opportunity of seeing both the Fox and FranzJoseph glaciers and flying over and landing on the FranzJoseph Glacier in a helicopter. Franz Josef Township is a small village with approximately 330 inhabitants located approximately 5 km away from the glacier. It is basically a service area for tourists visiting the glacier as up to 2,000 people stay overnight during the main season. There are a few hotels and hostels and also a number of restaurants and shops but not much else.
We arrived at our hotel which was the ?FranzJoseph ?hotel in the Tui wing. We have a nice room decorated in greys and blacks with a walk in wardrobe and storage room. The bathroom is small with a shower and nice toiletries but no bath. It is a ski hotel in the season so there was plenty of storage for ski gear and clothes ...

The city is so compact that it is easy to explore on foot and the family run Hotel Post is one of the most economic places to stay in the central Ring area of Vienna. You are less than 10 minutes walk from the Stefansdom, Kaerntnerstrasse and the Graben and there's a subway (U-Bahn) station - Schwedenplatz about 3 minutes from the hotel, as well as stops for numerous different tram-lines. So everything is within easy reach for tourists wanting to fit in as much as possible during their visit.

The Hilton Vienna Plaza is an excellent hotel located on the Ringstrasse in Central Vienna, I will talk more about the hotels location later on. Before I arrived at the hotel I emailed the manager with a few questions about the local area and the hotel etc. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and I received an email back with all of my questions answered which was helpful. It took around twenty minutes to get to the hotel from the Airport, although on my way back to the airport at the end of my stay it took about thirty minutes because of heavier traffic.
