Embassy Suites
On a recent visit to California, I was booked into this hotel because it was close to places I had to visit for work.
The hotel itself is only a short drive from the airport (it took about half an hour in a hire car, and not knowing where I was going) and is located in La Jolla which is apparently quite an affluent area, featuring banks and houses and hotels as well as restaurants and a rather nice shopping mall.
It's easy to drive into the hotel and should you ask for it there is valet parking in the high rise car park, but I just parked round the back of the hotel.
Once inside the hotel, check in was quick and efficient and I was immediately impressed with the well set out entrance lobby featuring some nice little touches such as plentiful flowers. The reception desk is large and well staffed and also in ...

reached Bariloche (again, separate op. to "come out" soon on this), in the glorious Lake District, the very beginning of Argentinean Patagonia. A very touristic but absolutely charming town, with the fabulous Nahuel Huapi Lake as its extensive mirror.
It was 7pm, the border with Chile could not be crossed after 9pm, but we HAD to visit Bariloche, if only briefly. So we did. Bariloche is a ski resort during the winter and looks very much like an Austrian resort with its gracious wooden houses and balconies full of flowers? We did not want to leave, but reluctantly, we did. Only to get to the border with Chile and be told we were too late. It was 9.30pm. We did not even insist, instead, headed back towards Bariloche with a huge smile on our face and barely any regrets.

I don't find this hard to believe but I still think she is perhaps not as famous or successful (or should I can iconic) as other female artists such as Madonna or Mariah Carey who I think it would be fair to compare her with. Jackson is ranked by Billboard magazine as one of the top ten best-selling music artists in the history of contemporary music, having sold over 100 million albums worldwide. The Recording Industry Association of America lists her as the eleventh best-selling female artist in the United States, with 26 million certified albums.
