This is an old pictoresque town in the east of the Netherlands, located on the banks of the river IJssel and easily accessible both by car and railway. The whole of Deventer is worth a daylong stroll. There is much to be seen! Don't forget to take the ferry across the river to the Worp (the Throw). From there you have a great view of the city. On the Grote Markt is the Waag, the historical museum of the city. Another museum worth visiting is the Toy museum next to the Waag. After all the walking it is good to sit down on one of the many terraces lining the central square and sample a bite of the original Deventer Koek (mildly spiced cake).
