Small airport, small queues

Advantages: Local to me
Disadvantages: Expensive restaurants

Exeter International Airport is my preferable airport to fly from, but that is solely to do with the fact that it's a 10 - 15 minute drive from my house. Recently revamped, Exeter airport is quite a relatively small airport situated around 5 miles outside of Exeter towards Clyst Honiton. Car Parking The airport has long stay and short stay parking with 4 car parks on site, the short stay car park car park 1, is a very short walk (50 yards) from the ...
...On you return arrival into Exeter airport you walk from the plane to passport control, I have always found passport control is a very quick process. Collection of bag's this is always the frustrating bit at most airports and Exeter isn't any different from my experience you can expec to spend 20 minutes for the whole baggage collection process. When yyou have collected your bags you can then head out to meet and greet area, which is very small and ...

This place went down well with us!

Advantages: Lots to do
Disadvantages: charge extra for pony ride etc

Pennywell farm is about a fifteen minute drive from where I live so I have been to place quite a few times. It's basically a big farm where there are lots of animals to touch and spend time with but there are also tonnes of other things going on around this. It will cost an adult just under a tenner and a child around eight pounds and under three's go free which I think is great value for money if you make the most of everything that goes on. When ...
...in the future. Pennywell is always changing because as the seasons change so do the animals for instance you could go up at the start of opening season (feb) and it'll be wet and muddy and there won't be too much going on but when you go back in May, there are tiny piglets and sheep which have just been born. The thing that I really don't like about Pennywell is the fact that you pay at the door but if you want your child to have a pony ride then ...

Surreal Ice Age Beauty

Advantages: Unspoilt natural beauty.
Disadvantages: Few facilities.

The Valley of the Rocks runs parallel to the sea in north Devon, with a line of high dramatic rock formations separating the now dry river bed from the coast. It was formed 450,00 million years ago, in the Ice Age, when rivers that once flowed here were diverted. The valley floor is 300 ft above sea level. Many legends have grown up about the rock formations, giving rise to their imaginative names, such as Castle Rock, Ragged Jack, Middle Gate, Chimney ...
...half-expected dinosaurs to appear, but the only wild animals I met were goats. How to Get There The Valley of the Rocks can be reached on foot by following the coastal path along the cliffs, west from Lynton. I believe that this is the best way to see it if you are capable of the 4 mile return walk. If you want to come back via a different route, ask Lynton Tourist Information for advice suitable to your fitness level, or search for information ...

Handy place to take children when it's raining (Play Dome)

Advantages: Keeps children entertained for a couple of hours whilst you relax with a coffee
Disadvantages: Little bit expensive

...I came across The Play Dome (www.theplaydome.com) which is only about 10 minutes away from where I live (Honiton, Devon), its an indoor play area with ball pools and slides etc, I thought this would be an ideal place to go with them. So on the first day with them off we went. On arriving I found that the car park was very small, only room for about 10 cars so we ended up parking on the road, this was ok as its very quite around the area so the cars ...
...you see a fairly big play frame, pretty much the same as you find in any indoor play area, you have the junior area which is for under 4's only which has a ball pool and soft shapes to climb over etc and the over 4's play section which has a ball pool with ball shower and blower, a 4m astra slide (slide with bumps in it), a 4m drop slide (death drop slide), tubes with spy holes, a helicopter (which is quite high up & has a propeller that you can ...

Something different to look around (House of Marbles)

Advantages: Free to get into. Good to visit if you have a couple hours spare
Disadvantages: Will not fill a whole day

...recently told us about The House of Marbles as he had been to see it with relatives; he loved it so much he wanted to take us to see it so at the weekend we went with him to take a look around. The House of Marbles is very easy to find its in Devon between Plymouth and Exeter on the A38, just off the Drumbridges roundabout (Trago Mills roundabout) towards Bovey Tracey, it has the usual brown tourist attraction signs to follow so you cant miss it. ...
...So what is The House of Marble, well it's a working glass and games factory which is based in an old pottery. Firstly you have the glass blowing part where you can watch glass blowers make various pieces which later get sold in the shop. When we where there they where making glass muffins and it was amazing to watch. You can also have glass moulds made here which is the other reason we visited, my dad wanted us to have a glass mould done of our little ...
