Disappointing but has potential
Advantages: Sea view Disadvantages: Needs moderising, useless shower, broken toilet seat
...This is an old, outdated hotel and they still use mortice locks on the bedroom doors attached to a long hard plastic tag with your room 'name' on it (yes names, not numbers!). The key hole was very close to the door frame and with the plastic tag on the key ring it was dificult to turn the key without your hand getting stuck between the key and the door frame. Once inside the room, my eye was immediately drawn to the patio door and the view beyond ... ...nicer.
So overall, this hotel falls short of being satisfactory and if it weren't for the sea view, I'd have scored this a 1 star. It is also located 20 minutes walk from the town centre so not really in a central position either. There are probably better hotels in Torquay than this for value for money so I'd only recommend this as a last resort. ...

Royal Fleet Club experience
Advantages: None that I can think of Disadvantages: Cramped, scruffy, noisy and bad food
Arrived here after 5 hour drive from London. Very hard to imagine poorer value for money or facilities. Grubby and very cramped double room. Cigarette burns in blanket on rock-hard bed. Window didn't shut and curtains couldn't shut out light or noise from downstairs party, which also didn't meet at top due to being broken. Oh yes - we were banned from the hotel bar by an extremely agresssive woman because we were not part of the party. Bathroom Shower ... ...in case you forgot to bring your own. (Like us)! 'Minature' TV which just about managed 3 stations by performing acrobatics with manual set-top aerial. Shoddy attempt at amateur decorating with blue paint dripping from walls onto white paintwork. The 'Last Straw' was breakfast where at no time were ALL the ingredients of the so called cooked breakfast assembled at any one time! This necessitated queueing for a grim and greasy breakfast which had ...

Go west!
Advantages: inexpensive and convenient Disadvantages: the bed!
My parents live in Dawlish and, I don't know whether they were trying to tell us something, but the moment my sisters and I had all left home, they promptly sold the family home and moved into a one bedroom flat! It's lovely for them, but it does mean that every time we want to come and visit we need to find accommodation elsewhere. After having tried a few other options, we now seem to have settled on the Exeter Travelodge as our place to stay when ... ...price! Firstly it is very well located as it is part of the Exeter Service area at Junction 30 of the M5 which is the main route into Devon and Cornwall from just about anywhere else in the country. The actual address is: Moto Service Area M5 Motorway, Sandygate, Exeter, EX2 7HF The fact that it is located at the service area means that if you are using it as a stopover on a longer journey, you don't have to worry about wasting time trying ...

A Bad Nights Sleep at Plymouth Travelodge
Advantages: Good location Disadvantages: Lumpy Beds, Noisy
...having never stayed in a Travelodge before, but had heard that they were a cheap alternative.
~~Price~~
I have to say that I was quite shocked at how much one night would cost as I have stayed in cheaper and more luxurious places than this before. Unfortunately we couldn’t find a room anywhere else in Plymouth for that night due to various events that were taking place in the city. The Travelodge we eventually looked at didn’t have any standard ... ...payment.
~~Location~~
The Travelodge is in a great location within Plymouth, although it also has some downsides to this particular location. The hotel is right in the middle of the town centre - a stones throw away from all the shop and is located at the back of Union Street (main street running through the town). This means pretty much everything you would want to see is within walking distance.
However the downside to this location is that ...

Friendly Service - a real gem of a hotel
Advantages: Really convenient location, Good value from all aspects, excells in quality, service and food Disadvantages: none
...sleep after staying at the Best Western Tiverton Hotel. The room was absolutely spotless, the staff very friendly - and facilities surprised me with free Wifi, a printer, flat screen tv, desk/office area and an exceptionally comfy bed. Food and service in the restaurant couldn't be faulted - 2 courses and a pint for under £20. Very convenient location. This hotel is a hidden gem and comes highly recommended ...
