The Palace Hotel is a magnificent building set on the edge of the Torquay seafront. I went the stay there as part of a company team building weekend and it was fantastic. A shabby hotel in need of updating

Advantages: Easy to find, plenty of parking
Disadvantages: A steep walk back from the town, much of the decor and facilities in desperate need of an upgrade

This hotel is well located and easy to find, but it is a steep hill's wall away from the town of Torquay and the harbour. However there is a bus which comes up the hill fairly frequently and stops by the hotel. When we arrived at the hotel we were kept waiting for several minutes whilst the hotelier was on the telephone talking to another potential guest. Advantages: inexpensive and convenient
Disadvantages: the bed!
