Plymouth Copthore Hotel
Advantages: Great Location Disadvantages: More of a Good 3* Hotel than a 4* Hotel.
...mixed views on the Plymouth Copthorne Hotel. I have stayed here numerous times, and have experienced a variety of services from "average" to "good".
Official details about the hotel (and booking rates) can be found here: http://www.benbow.org.uk/CopthornePlymouth.htm
First of all, I have never had a "bad" experience in the Copthorne. There have been times where an issue arose, but this was then sorted out by the front desk staff. Saying that, the ... ...so the rate at the Copthorne isn't that bad.
It is located at the top end of the town. This means it is great to explore Plymouth - the shopping is on your doorstep, and Plymouth Hoe and Barbican are about a 10 minute walk away. It is also away from the bars/pubs that are at the lower end of town, so noise disturbance is surprisingly low for a town center hotel.
When you check out, you are more than welcome to leave bags at reception for the rest ...

Friendly Service - a real gem of a hotel
Advantages: Really convenient location, Good value from all aspects, excells in quality, service and food Disadvantages: none
...sleep after staying at the Best Western Tiverton Hotel. The room was absolutely spotless, the staff very friendly - and facilities surprised me with free Wifi, a printer, flat screen tv, desk/office area and an exceptionally comfy bed. Food and service in the restaurant couldn't be faulted - 2 courses and a pint for under £20. Very convenient location. This hotel is a hidden gem and comes highly recommended ...

.....and they say no-one ever complains!!
Advantages: Nice situation Disadvantages: Grumpy staff, smelly room and terrible food
The food was dreadful (truly, truly dreadful), the bedroom smelly, and the staff either didn't speak English, or were dismissive and patronising. Some of the front desk staff were clipped and condescending in their attitude. My party had concerns we wished to pass on to a supervisor, and we were told that 85% of the guests hadn't complained, so there couldn't be a problem.
The refurbishment that apparently started some time ago (looking back on ... ...far (and there are still wires dangling everywhere). The advertised pool was green and slimy, and the advertised Indian restaurant wasn't there. (Again, looking back on this site, the pool hasn't been available for much of the year).
We, as a group, were there for a dancing weekend, but the floor was far too small and, on one occasion, a major leak directly above the dance-floor left us all strutting our stuff around buckets and towels on a damp ...

A stunning hotel perfect for weddings
Advantages: Beautiful building and grounds Disadvantages: Disabled access is poor
Boringdon Hall is an amazing old 16th century manor house with links to Henry the VIII. In March 1989 part of the house was burnt down in a tragic fire and a lot of money was put into it to restore it back to its former glory. It is surrounded by 7acres of beautiful gardens and looks like something you would see in a period drama. It has 41 bedrooms and this includes 4 rooms with stunning four poster beds. Boringdon Hall not only hosts wedding but ... ...recently had their reception at Boringdon Hall so we thought we'd take a look. It was about 10 minutes away from our parish church so thought it would be ideal if we liked it.
We drove to Plympton and it was sign posted from the main road which was very handy as we weren't entirely sure where it was even though we were both 'born and bred' Plymouthians. There was a long driveway which headed up to the building which was shaded by trees which we ...

Go west!
Advantages: inexpensive and convenient Disadvantages: the bed!
My parents live in Dawlish and, I don't know whether they were trying to tell us something, but the moment my sisters and I had all left home, they promptly sold the family home and moved into a one bedroom flat! It's lovely for them, but it does mean that every time we want to come and visit we need to find accommodation elsewhere. After having tried a few other options, we now seem to have settled on the Exeter Travelodge as our place to stay when ... ...price! Firstly it is very well located as it is part of the Exeter Service area at Junction 30 of the M5 which is the main route into Devon and Cornwall from just about anywhere else in the country. The actual address is: Moto Service Area M5 Motorway, Sandygate, Exeter, EX2 7HF The fact that it is located at the service area means that if you are using it as a stopover on a longer journey, you don't have to worry about wasting time trying ...
