Excellent location but in need of redecoration
Advantages: Good Location, reasonable value Disadvantages: Rooms dirty, terrible bathroom. Whole place requires redecoration
The Esplanade Hotel is a 2star in a great location right on the seafront with the shops and bus station only 5 minutes walk away. The hotel looks tired and is in urgent need of redecoration inside and out. It is an old building so there is a labyrinth of corridors. Our room was an acceptable size with a television and tea and coffee making facilities. The decoration was poor with the wallpaper starting to peel off the walls. The bathroom was a disgrace ... ...hand basin with the toilet in an unhygienic position.I suppose it did have a fan.The rooms were cleaned daily but cosmetically. We still found dirt and rubbish after it was cleaned. we were on half board and it was waiter service. There was a limited choice on the menu and the food was quite reasonable albeit the portions were mean. They looked bigger until you realised it was served on a small plate. The reception staff were efficient, friendly ...

Friendly Service - a real gem of a hotel
Advantages: Really convenient location, Good value from all aspects, excells in quality, service and food Disadvantages: none
...sleep after staying at the Best Western Tiverton Hotel. The room was absolutely spotless, the staff very friendly - and facilities surprised me with free Wifi, a printer, flat screen tv, desk/office area and an exceptionally comfy bed. Food and service in the restaurant couldn't be faulted - 2 courses and a pint for under £20. Very convenient location. This hotel is a hidden gem and comes highly recommended ...

Family entertainment
Advantages: Good child facilities, close to the beach Disadvantages: Need to cross the railway line to get to the beach, but there is a foot bridge.
We have stayed at this hotel now for the past three years and have just booked again for this year as we have found it to be one of the best for the facilities provided at a reasonable price.
The staff have always very polite and helpful both during the booking process and during our stays at the hotel.
The childrens entertainment provided during the high season is very good and keeps the children entertained in the evening while the parents can ... ...meal comprises of the usual chicken nuggets etc, and has to be booked early, they will provide alternatives such as fresh fish provided it's on the evening menu, and booked early enough.
Access to the beach is very easy and though you can see it from the hotel it still requires a good brisk walk. The noisy fun fair can be avoided by crossing the railway line at the footbridge rather than by going into Dawlish Warren itself.
The hotel is very easy ...

Great hotel - but . . .
Advantages: Friendly service and excellent restaurant Disadvantages: Poor room cleaning
We stayed at this hotel in September 2006. It is in a good location, about 5 minutes walk from the shopping centre and a few more minutes to cathedral freen. It is opposite a small car park where overnight parking was free with a ticket from the hotel but there is a charge during the daytime.
What a lovely warm and friendly welcome we received - a beaming smile and greeting as we walked through the door. They responded quickly to any request, for ... ...room and a replacement appeared immediately.
The restaurant serves excellent food and the Set Menu is amazing value. No wonder it was full on the Friday night. Breakfast was also excellent with a good selection of home made items, surprisingly extensive for the size of hotel.
The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. There are tea and coffee making facilities, a small television and a radio. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The bathroom ...

Go west!
Advantages: inexpensive and convenient Disadvantages: the bed!
My parents live in Dawlish and, I don't know whether they were trying to tell us something, but the moment my sisters and I had all left home, they promptly sold the family home and moved into a one bedroom flat! It's lovely for them, but it does mean that every time we want to come and visit we need to find accommodation elsewhere. After having tried a few other options, we now seem to have settled on the Exeter Travelodge as our place to stay when ... ...price! Firstly it is very well located as it is part of the Exeter Service area at Junction 30 of the M5 which is the main route into Devon and Cornwall from just about anywhere else in the country. The actual address is: Moto Service Area M5 Motorway, Sandygate, Exeter, EX2 7HF The fact that it is located at the service area means that if you are using it as a stopover on a longer journey, you don't have to worry about wasting time trying ...
