Advantages: Keeps your men occupied & happy Disadvantages: A lot to pay if you just want to watch
I visited Diggerland, Kent in July 2007 - the first week of the school summer holidays- with my husband and 6 year old son. My son had been asking to go as a couple of his school friends had been and enjoyed themselves.
The park was easy to find, just off the M2. We arrived just after the 10am opening time and were surprised to find the car park almost empty and no queues in sight. On trying to go in via the entrance an employee came out and asked ... ..."EXIT" door and paid £12.50 each {no child prices - under 3s are free and over 65s pay £6.25}to enter. I asked for a map, which did not exist and was not needed, and directions to the toilet, which was needed after a long drive.
We left the building, found the toilets, which were clean and adequate and then started to enjoy ourselves. After entry all the rides are free except those aimed at the under 3s, which are coin operated.
All the rides are ...

Advantages: You get to drive diggers. Good for young children. Disadvantages: Poor value, dodgy voucher offers
The day got off to a bad start. We had some vouchers offering half price entry from the "Days Out" magazine, but the site refused to honour them as "their pricing policy had changed". They offered us a 10% discount instead, and after some minutes fruitless arguing with the site manager I had little choice but to accept that. Turning around and walking out is a little hard with two excited 3-year olds in tow !
I complained to the head office later ... ...poor to advertise entry discounts, then refuse to give them when people turn up to use them.
The park itself is fairly small, so not so good for older children, but its fine for the under 10s. One annoying thing is that after paying £12.50 to get in (minus 10% of course!), they then charge you extra for several of the rides. The rides are all based around diggers : you drive them around, or for the bigger ones get driven in them. There are also ...

Advantages: Different from your average park-only 4 in england!!! Disadvantages: none
...a restraunt/bar just outside of Diggerland, and you still will be able to get back into the park!! However this is alot more expensive although the food is very very good!!
There is also a shop full of digger things, toys, clothes etc although it is expensive with a cap costing £6 (although with fuel prices these days, keeping those diggers running IS expensive, let alone the cost of the diggers themselves, e.g 'Spindizzy' cost the park £118,000!!!!!!!)
... ...a bit different.
I have been to this park twice and have loved every second of it!!!
I would jump at any chance to go again as it is rather a long drive away for me, although it is worth the effort!!
Enjoyable for all the family with very friendly and 'chatty' staff! ...
