Well well, I am sure that Royales shut way before the internet existed but never mind. I never went there as I was just a little girl at the time but I am an avid fan of its sucessor Infinity and Infinitys successor M Two.

As Infinity has now closed and there is already a review of it on here I will not say much about that except that I loved it but it did have its bad points too. Too many scallys, little bar area in relation to the size of the club, grubby carpets and peeling wallpaper in the stair area. However saying that it was all in all a good club.

However I once went on a New Years Eve and queued for over an hour to get in, then queued for an hour to put my coat in the cloak room had one drink after queueing along time at one of only two bars. The night was followed with me getting my foot broke (I wasn't drunk due to not getting served, a rather large man fell on it!) my then boyfriend getting his nose broke by a scally slamming an ice bucket over his head, another guy who was out with us got bottled and nearly lost his eye and the taxi we were supposed to get home ran someone over so couldn't pick us up! All in all this was not a good night, but this was the exception, not the rule!

Anyhow, after I settled down with a nice new guy I hadn't been out for quite a while and was upset to learn that Infinity had closed down when I did want to go out. Several months later I was informed by a friend that it had re opened as M Two.

Off I went with one of my best friends in tow. He was wearing jeans and a jumper (which I was not happy about) and I didn't think we would get in. We were queueing and the bouncers were ruthelessly turning people away. They weren't using statements like "Sorry mate no trainers", or "No jeans sorry" or "Have you got any ID?" They were basically saying "Nah, you look sh*t!", "No sorry mate I just don't want to let you in."

Great, I thought waying up my friends attire! Anyhow we get to the front of the queue and awaited our assesment. The bouncers slowly looked us up and down and then stated "Yeah you two look alright in you go!" Phew, sigh of relief.

We payed our £4 entry and entered the club. It had all changed. Gone was the main bar and the cloak room and in its place was a swanky seating area. It was nicely decorated with three large round seating booths on each side, a long stretch of seating down the wall inbetween these two areas, a few tables with big leather chairs round them, a few big leather cubes and then the main bar, which had been moved opposite to where it used to be. It was now facing you as you came in rather than pointing away.

It was my round and it came to about £7 for three a lager, a malibu and coke and a bottle of water. I didn't think this was too bad as this probably would have come to about £13 when it was Infinitys! However it still wasn't cheap and cheerful by any means!

We spotted one of our friends sat in one of the booths and went over to sit with him for a bit. Now this is where M Two really started to differ from other clubs. Staff came around with platters of free food. Chips, potatoe wedges, curly fries etc. Brilliant.

The dancefloor was same as always. Large enough compared with most places and with a sticky floor! Also very crowded as there are thousands of people in there.

The club does certain nights, Fridays is "Undress" - wear as little as possible, Saturdays is "Beautiful" - look your best and Sunday is a chilled out R n B night I think.

The music tends to be a good mix, dance, r n b, hip hop etc. It also mixes commercial tracks with some more underground ones - just to keep everyone happy!

The night progressed fairly normally, drink, dance, wee, drink, dance..... you get the idea. The steps towards the toilets still looked as grubby social club as ever and the cloak room had now been moved right up to the top of the venue. The second and third floors are basically large circular balconys around the dance floor. There is also a second bar near the cloak room on the third floor. The main dance floor is behind the bar area on the ground floor.

The toilets now come with body sprays, perfumes, lolly pops, someone to dry your hands etc.

On my first visit to the club we left shortly before 2am. However I returned a month later with another friend. The night went pretty much the same only this time as well as bringing chips etc around they had added samosas, onion bhajis, spring rolls, some other dubious item to their repetoire.

This time at 2am we were sat in one of the booths with two lads we were chatting to. One of them returned to the table with a cup of tea. I was very puzzled and knew I wasn't THAT drunk. He handed me a card that explained everything. At 2am the bar shuts and the breakfast club opens. They serve tea, coffee, bacon butties, sausage butties, egg butties, bacon and sausage butties - you get the idea! They will also call you a cab and see you out to it if you require. All part of improving throwing out times in Manchester I guess.

I think its brilliant although I have never actually ordered anything so can't tell you whether it tastes good or not. Probably no one can tell you that as they are probably all too drunk to remember accurately!

I recently visited again and still thought this is one of the best clubs around however they had moved to playing slightly more dance and slightly less r n b which is a shame as there are not many r n b clubs about!

I think this is a great club and at the moment one of a kind. Some people don't like how the bouncers are, these are the people who can't get in. Heres some advice to them - don't come out looking like you would to nip to the shop - make a bit of an effort! I like the way the bouncers are, it eliminates all the trouble makers and people who generally shoudn't be allowed out!

Great club but don't go if you just like to go to places for credility - I used to describe Infinitys as pure pop fun and this is similar only with a bit more class and a more eclectic mix of music!

I've never been but not really into dancie stuff so probably wouldn't be my thing, I'm more of a cheesy pop girlie when I'm on a night out. x x
