The Disney's Hotel Cheyenne is a wild west based theme hotel. It is made to look as if it is in the wild west, with horses, cowboys etc. You've seen all the movies. It does look real, and every detail has been put in to make it look "wild west". The main reception building, where the restaurant is, and other hotel buildings surrounding it have funky wild west writing on the sides of the buildings which says things like "Saloon" "Jail" and "Billy The Kid". This is a good idea, not the names of each hotel building but gives the hotel that extra feel of the hotel area. There are around 10 different hotel blocks, each separated. The main building is where most people go at breakfast, at dinner if they choose to eat there, or when they check in, or out. This is a good place to meet as a meeting point if anyone gets lost around the Cheyenne Hotel site, etc. Also a good meeting point if you are staying with a lot of other people, staying in different rooms at the Cheyenne.
::::: Why we chose the Cheyenne Hotel:::::
The Cheyenne hotel officially opened back in 1992. We had been to Disneyland Paris in 1995, and 1998, and had stayed at the Cheyenne Hotel on both of these occasions. It looked like a good themed hotel in the DisneylandParis travel magazine too. The hotel has stayed the same since a previous visit which was in 1998, but made a recent visit to this hotel and Disney park back in October 2006. The hotel is a good theme for young children, and adults. Every section of the hotel, rooms, shop, bar, etc are all based on a cowboy theme.
::::: Meet Characters at the Hotel:::::
Every morning at around 10 o clock, Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto etc come to the hotel to take part in a "Meet & Greet" session. In the main building there will be a photographer who will capture your photo(s) with the Disney characters and you can purchase your photo as long as you keep your ticket which the photographer should have given to you. You can preview your picture on a computer screen before buying your photograph,
just like ride photographs in the Disneyland park . There will be a small queue to meet the Disney character. There will be one character signing autographs and posing for pictures at one time. There are normally a minimum of two characters who come to the Cheyenne Hotel every morning. Characters will take it in turns to meet the hotel guests, on an interval of around 15/20 minutes. The Meet & Greet session will end at around 11.30am. A majority of characters sign autographs, and will most likely pose for photographs to be purchased, or for a camera you own yourself.
::::: What makes the Cheyenne unique:::::
The Cheyenne is different to most other Disney hotels. The Cheyenne has a theme which people like if they have children. Although, the hotel is not just for children. It can be enjoyed by adults and older persons too. When looking at other hotels in booklets and online, it shows that they Cheyenne hotel does have a lot of character - and a good theme. If you are staying at the Cheyenne hotel and you are enjoying the cowboy and wild west experience, I would suggest going to the Wild West Cowboy show which is very, very popular with visitors, both in and out of the Cheyenne hotel. It is located just outside of the Disneyland park at a place called "Disney Village". You can get directions if you ask the staff at Disney Village, The Cheyenne Hotel, or a member of staff around the Disney park. If you pick up a map, it will be on there. But the "Buffalo Bills, Wild West Show" is a shown in an arena where every audience member takes part, given a free cowboy hat, a 3 course meal, and gifts and treats. Everyone takes part. There are horses, and different animals. The animals are treated with great care, so nothing to worry about there. We went to this show several times. You may need to book quickly as it is a very popular Wild West show.
::::: What is there to do in the morning:::::
In the morning, most people would be getting up early to get into the park early to get on all of the best rides to save queue times in the Park. But, you don't have to be going to the Disneyland park to stay as this fantastic and fun hotel. When we went to the Cheyenne hotel in October 2006, we got up around 7am, got ready, and headed to breakfast (which was included in the price of our stay at the hotel). We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and headed to the Disneyland park by catching the free bus. But if you would like to stay at the Cheyenne for the fun of it without visiting the Disney park, then I am sure that is fine. Tickets would be cheaper to access the Disney park if you are staying at one of several Disney hotels. The OFFICIAL Disneyland Paris hotels are: Disneyland Hotel, Disney's Hotel New York, Disney's Newport Bay Club, Disney's Sequoia Lodge, Disney's Hotel Cheyenne, Disney's Hotel Santa Fe, Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch.
:::::What is there to do in the evening::::: In the evening, you can pay to have a meal (which is not included in the price - but such a wide variety from the buffet.) The cost of a meal per person at the Cheyenne is around €20 per person, per night. We did not always eat at the Cheyenne. We would tend to eat at one of the Disneyland Park restaurants which are sometimes cheaper, or dearer. It depends on what you order. If you would prefer, you can eat in the bar at the restaurant. This can be found very easily, and is located next to the shop. You can order very succulent bar food. Also nachos, with dips and tortilla sauces. Pizzas, and other snack foods. The prices in the bar are reasonable, and the prices of drinks in the bar are cheap too, but quality is still great. I do not think they Cheyenne allow people to take foods like hot meals to their rooms, but this is not a problem as it is normally fun to eat in a fun environment at the main hotel, or at one of Disneyland restaurants.
:::::The Bar:::::
The bar is located in between the main help desk in the main building, and the shop. If you cannot see it, any of the staff will guide you there. The bar is roughly 15 metres by 15 metres and is filled with tables, a stage which is normally always in use for live country music. The bar does look great, and the entertainment is always the best. The entertainers never fail, and perform at their best. The staff in the bar dress in the uniform, as if it was a real wild west bar. All of the little details make you feel like you have stepped from the future to the Wild West. The staff are very friendly, and do know English, considering their first language is probably French. We had no problems with the bar at all.
:::::Breakfast:::::
Breakfast for us was included in the price of the stay of the hotel. This was in October 2006, so I am unsure if this is still included but it is best to ask when booking or enquiring about staying at the hotel. The breakfast is served ion the main hall. The hall yet again has the cowboy and wild west theme. There was a separate area with food, where you could eat as much as you could. The buffet had many different cereals, French favourites such as croissants, pain au chocolate, and yogurt. There was also hot items too such as tomatoes, sausages, eggs etc. Drinks were included too, and there were different places around the hall which had orange

juice machines, and facilities to get tea, coffee, and other hot and cold drinks. If you would prefer, you can choose to have breakfast outside of the hotel, and have breakfast with the Disney Characters. This is called the "Character Breakfast". You go to a certain place in the part, or Disney Village (which is not actually in the park), and sit at tables with your family and friends and enjoy the characters coming up to you, have the chance to get characters autographs, and photo opportunities. The food here is great too. Again, you are spoilt for choice and full of great variety. The characters and staff are very polite, and do try very hard to get along with the guests who are having breakfast. Beware, there are some cheeky characters who will steal your seat, and take things like your autograph book. This is really funny to sit, and watch. They obviously give your items back, but it is entertainment. This really gives you that special moment with your favourite characters. This is a good opportunity to bring your autograph book as there are around 20 characters who come round to see everyone at their tables. Bringing the camera too would be a good idea.
:::::Reception Area:::::
In the reception area is a hall where you can check in. A big help, and information desk. A majority of the staff talk English, but if they don't you can talk to someone who does. We did not get angry at the idea they didn't speak English, as they shouldn't have to learn different languages just to talk to us. You can gain entrance to the sop from in the reception area, or from outside. Either way, you enter the same shop. There are also video games full of Disney characters. There are also large leather sofas which give the extra wild west theme in the reception area, near the shop. There is also a TV for all ages to watch with the latest Disney movies showing. The film Cars was being shown when we arrived; and was not out to buy on DVD at that time. There is also a post box for the postcards, and letters, Stamps can be bought at the shop, or in the park. Also, a payphone for quick phone calls to say you have arrived safely, etc. Prices for these small things like stamps and phone calls from the pay phone are reasonable too.
:::::Bus to Disney Park:::::
There is a free bus to the Disneyland Paris park, which arrives to take people to the park every fifteen minutes. The times are reasonable, and there are normally two busses running at any one time. The shuttle bus to the park or station, or Disney village is free. This is another good point about the Disney hotels service. The bus can hold around 60 people, as the bus is very large. There are seats on either side, and places for people to stand, or for people who are disabled, or have pushchairs. The journey is quite quick and you cannot miss these busses when they are coming. They are bright yellow busses with the Disneyland logo splattered all over it. You can get the bus back too, just outside the station which is one minute away from the main exit of the Disneyland Park. If you get lost, you may want to borrow or get a map - which are also free. The busses stop running at around midnight, but times vary so please check at the Cheyenne hotel if you will be using this service.
:::::Parking:::::
You can park at the Cheyenne Hotel for free. Which is sometimes rare to park at a hotel for free. The cars are away from the hotel, around a 2 minute walk, but you would probably only need to do this once or twice anyway. The car park is large so there will be enough room for your car. If you do have any problems with parking, there will always be someone in the main Cheyenne building, to help with any problems you may have.
:::::Shop:::::
The shop is located near the bus stop, in the main Cheyenne building. The shop has cuddly toys with most of the Disney characters. The shop is small, but does have a lot in it. If you do not find what you are looking for, you will see it in another shop around the Disneyland Park. In the Cheyenne's shop you will find gifts, memorabilia, postcards, stamps and snacks and drinks. The prices in the shop are reasonable. The shop accepts euros (€), and unsure if they accept British money, so make sure you have your money changed into Euros before you go. The shop is very clean, and safe. There are normally two people working in the shop, both on the till as it reduces queuing time.
:::::The Rooms:::::
The rooms are big, and have great things in them. The floor is covered with carpet. The walls have wild west themed wallpaper. It is not too in your face, but does look like it has character. Depending on your room ,are the amount of beds that you will have. In our room was one King size bed, and a bunk bed. There is also a telephone, which can also be used as an alarm too. The beds are amazing to sleep on, no problems with sleeping at all. There is a TV, with several channels to catch up with news, weather etc. Most of the channels are in English, but the French weather channels are easy enough to understand. The bathroom has a bath, a shower, a sink, and enough room to keep any items you may want to keep in there. The rooms are cleaned daily, and beds are made, and the bathroom is checked, cleaned and stocked with towels and other things like soap. We also got a free cuddly toy of one of the Disney characters on our first day at the Cheyenne. This was a nice addition.
Overall:
I would say that this hotel does not deserve a 2 star rating. I would give it 4 stars myself, it is action packed and always thinking of the visitor. If you are thinking about going to Disneyland, this may be the hotel for you. You will love it. I have also included pictures.
