We have just returned home from Disneyland Paris and our stay in Disney's Hotel Santa Fe. We knew this was the cheapest Hotel on the resort with a rating of 2 stars, but we didn't plan to be in the Hotel much.
The Hotel is themed like New Mexico, with a crashed UFO and an Indian Playground. All the room blocks are bright orange and the reception is decorated with the New Mexico theme.
Checking-in was easy enough, very few others at reception so it was quick. I did notice on busier check-ins, face-painting for the children and balloon animals, but we didn't get any of this.
When you check-in you receive all the extras you have booked. We stayed bed & breakfast so we received cards for each day for breakfast. You had to pick a suitable time between 7am to 11am so we had a few early
morning and a few late morning. We also received park passes and a fantasyland breakfast voucher. The only thing was they didn't tell us we could get into the parks two hours before it opened everyday because we stayed in a disney hotel.
We didn't honestly expect much from the Hotel because it was only 2 star, but we where pleasently surprised. The room was basic, two double beds, TV with 3 English channels, bathroom with toilet, bath and shower. Everything seemed clean and tidy and they had left a breakfast basket with teabags, coffee, shortbread biscuits and sweets for the children.
Starving hungrey we really just had a quick look at the room before heading out for food. When we got back we unpacked some clothes and got the girls ready for bed. The first thing we noticed was wrong was when we cleaned there teeth before bed and found a towel covered in someones blood.
Leaving the towel on the floor so we knew not to use it we got the girls into bed thinking it was just a small mistake we decided not to complain, just concentrate on enjoying the holiday. It was also after midnight and everyone was sleepy.
Breakfast was a real task. Gave the girl at the restaurant door the token and joined the queue only to discover at the next door it was self-service which is not easy with two small children. Anyway, fought our way through with two full trays only to discover no tables.
Finally found a table, was covered in crumbs and spilt milk but the cleaners just stand at the side of the restuarant and make sure you return your tray, beware they get nasty if they even think you might leave your dishes on the table instead of on the dirty tray trolley! From then on we found a table and my husband then sorted breakfast.
Now some useful information. The resturant serves breakfast, but you have to pay for this at reception and don't forget your token they will turn you away. They will also turn you away for arriving before the time on your card or after so arrive on time or know breakfast and no refund. Lunch is served at the bar, the only meal that is table service. Dinner is in the resturant, self-service, average choice, all you can eat and is open until about 11pm. Don't go in expecting high standards of hygiene. Check your plates and glasses before using them. The tables and floors don't tend to be clean and you have birds flying at your head. There is a bus every 15 minutes which takes you to the parks but it only takes 10 minutes to walk. Avoid the play ground. It is over grown with weeds, very slippery and not safe for children.
There are pay and card phones just outside the resturant but the shop doesn't sell phone cards despite the signs saying they do. The staff in the shop are very friendly and helpful. The games room is open from 7am until 3am and has air hockey table and arcade games. information desk is open from 8am till 10pm and here you can hire things like kettles (30 Euro deposit refunded when returned). Reception is very unfriendly and we avoided it as much as possible.
After being in the Hotel 4 nights we realised the bed linen hadn't been changed. Although this doesn't seem a big deal when you are sitting on the beds for lunch and snacks the crumbs get annoying but there is no where else to sit in the room and you can't eat outside if it is pouring. Anyway this wasn't the worst. We had brought towels for the girls, so it was just me and my husband using the hotel towels and on the fourth day we found the bloody towel from the first day had been folded and put back into the pile of towels in the bathroom.
So, not only where we lying on dirty sheets we had been using dirty towels. The cleaning staff had been lifting the dirty towels from the floor folding them and putting the back on the shelf. I went straight to reception. The manager was called and although he called the cleaning staff he blamed me for not telling him sooner, so with smoke coming out of my ears I very loudly told him to get it sorted and threw the bloodly towel at him before leaving before I rung his neck for putting my family at risk from infection of someone elses blood.
Anyway, we stayed 7 nights, 8 days the sheets were never changed and don't know about the towels we couldn't use them after the one with the blood. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, spend a hundred pound more and go to a better hotel.
