We recently visit Pop Century in march 07. Our second time in Florida, last time staying on I- drive. The disney hotels offer more than any other hotel in Orlando.
Upon entrance to a very large que to check in, it was quickly gone and you are given your "Key to the world" Your disney passes and room keys. A great idea unless you decide to lose them.
First views of the hotel is a lot to take in surrounded by bright colours thousands of rooms and larger than life size disney characters. It is very confusing finding your room, out of the 2880 rooms (making it one of the largest hotels in the U.S.A, you would understand the problem.
The rooms are a resonable size and have everything you need to survive, your holiday in Florida. If like most people your there to do the theme parks and shopping, you don't really need to worry about
the room size and whats in it, as you will get back, sleep, wake up, wash, then go again. Though the rooms were still nicely decorated and very comfortable to stay in. Room service was great and everyday you come back to a made bed and more disney soap and shower gel.
The food court which always appears to be full but you dont have to wait longer than five minutes to get your food pay and go, has a great food standard and at a good price, but doesnt offer a wide variety. The normal fast food burgers, chinese, salads, pizza. Breakfast offers a bit more variety and cheap drinks. Though tea lovers beware it tastes a lot different and so does coffee needing a lot of milk and sugar to get the sweet taste we all enjoy. The hotel also offers a souviner cup for $15 that you can just refill everday as much as you want for breakfast, lunch, dinner and at 2am in the morning if you so please.
Travelling around disney from Pop Century is very easy there is a que for the bus for the theme park you want to go to, though you will find unless you leave early or late the bus que will be very big and you may have to stand up, also some theme parks take a couple of stops first like Blizzard beach will stop in Animal Kingdom so prepare for a 15 minute drive stood up. To travel to universal studios or shopping or where ever a disney representative will be happy to call you a cab which will be there in 5 minutes or less, and the location being right on the disney gates means it is a lot cheaper to travel to I-drive at about £18 dollars one way.
Swimming pools are always full, though we only went in them once but nice temprature a little shallow but still a good way to end a hard day.
Disney hotel benefits.
1. Magic hours - Im sure you have already heard about magic hours but its such a good thing to be able to have. Our first day in magic kingdom we were in at 8 for disney breakfast and didnt leave till 2 in the morning because of the magic hours, though you have to find some one who is giving out magic hour wrist bands or they wont let you on the rides.
2.Disney help - Whilst over there we didnt realise how the disney vacation dvd (Get yours now from the disney website for free!) was true. Whilst we were there it was mothers day and they helped us ring the disney florist and order flowers, they then put them into our rooms for when we got back from the theme parks. We also had an anniversary and they gave us badges and offered us the number to the disney chef to make a cake, also as soon as a disney worker sees the badge they immediatley try to cater for your every need.
3. You can use an of the disney hotels facilities. Just hop on a bus to one and walk straight in. You are as entitled to go to the Grand floridian spa resort for a facial as the people that are staying there. Contempory resort offeres jet ski-ing, speed boating and many other water sports. All the hotels have high class facilities waiting for you .
4. If coming from orlando airport you can pay a small fee i think about $20 and they will pick up your lugage from the airport so when you check in you can go straight to a theme park out for food or to bed and your luggage will be dropped off later so you dont have to worry about it.
Overall this hotel is fantastic it provides entertainment for the children the help parents need to pull off such a massive holiday and also they can steal the entertaimetn for the kids which is very fun. This disney hotel will make your stay a dream you dont need to worry about anything.
