Righto, i'll get straight to the point.

Disneyland. I'd always thought it was for the younger and much older, and i was almost right. To me, Disneyland wasn't exactly perfect. However, seeing as i'm reviewing the hotel, i wont hang about.

We were lucky enough to be staying at the Disneyland hotel for 4 days. God knows how much money we racked up by doing so, but i can see where the money goes. upon arriving, my eyes are met with a gloriously decorated and sculpted, grand building. Pink-coloured, it fits the bill of disneyland perfectly. It took around 30 minutes to check in and get the bags into rooms, and take a bit of a lie down - after all, we'd been awake since 3 AM. The rooms were magnificent - generously sized, and in the 3 rooms we accomadated, 2 of them were connected via a private door. This is perfect for families, as adults can have one room, whilst the young'ins get another room, but they are kept an eye on by the parents/guardians. The room configuration was requested specifically, and our needs in that department were met. Each roo, has a telly which are - you guessed it - tuned to the Disney Channel and Disneyland paris information programmes, so no XXX adult for the innocent 6 year olds at night!
Right, morning. For the hotel dwellers, there's a self-service breakfast bar period held until late-morning, hosted in a glorious dining room with splendid architecture and design. If there is a queue (which there will be at certain times at around 10-11AM, and even if there's not, Children and adults can watch or take photo opportunities with the disney characters, most probably being either Pluto, Goofy or Minnie around that time. Autograph books are sold throughout the park, encouraging youngsters to seek out their favourite characters and get an autograph - and here is where they can get it. During our stay, we never had to wait longer than around 7 minutes to get to a table and settle down. When at the front of the queue, guests are directed to a free table when one becomes available, and soon afterwards you are offered a selection of drinks; Juice (of many fruits), coffee and about a thousand different types of tea! Seeing as i'm not the adventurous type, i chose baguettes everyday. A bit boring i know, but they were very, very nice - the whole spread of food looked top quality. While i was getting the baguettes from the stand about 20 paces away, i was constantly distracted by the beatiful aroma and appetising gleam of fresh food and meat. I regret not having some myself, but that's me!

The hotel covers a large area, and our rooms were on the side of the building, so it took about 3 minutes of brisk walking to get from the restaurant back to our rooms. The rooms we were staying in had a great view from the balcony, and the glass doors seperating inside from out were complimented nicely by slightly-transparent white curtains for the day-time, but thicker disney-themed curtains for night-time. As for sleeping, it's surprisingly quite considering the Disney Village being about 300 metres away or so.

The Disney Village is a mix of entertainment, shopping and food, and is also open much later than the Disneyland Park. There's many different places to go in the village, most dominant being Planet Hollywood, a great place to eat in my opinion. Upon entering, we walked through a rather neatly layed-out introduction section, with like-like models of those such as Terminator, and (i think) rocky, and the whole impression i got from being there was pleasant and positive. Approaching the restaurant itself, we were greeted by two members of staff, and we were given the option of a french or english member of staff to tend to us. We chose english of course, and our waitress was prompt and organised, as well as actually being british, which made it much more comfortable for us. The food was great - the fries were trhe best i've had ever, and the rather generously sized burger that came with it was gorgeous, with excellent garnishings such as lettuce, those purple onion thingies, and quite a few i can't remember aswell. However, following the trend throughout the entire resort, the food wasn't exactly budget. I don't know how much it was exactly, but it's definitely more than your local Macdonalds. Speaking of which, A macdonalds is situated much deeper in the village, although we decided that it's not exactly exciting to come all the way to Disneyland and eat a Big Mac! Having said that, we also stopped by at the Rainforest cafe on one of our returns. On entering, the queue was about 6 minutes long, not too much of a wait for a free table to appear. The 'introduction' to the cafe was nice and themed, snakes will protrude from the ceiling, greeting unsuspecting visitors with a bit of movement, and a gloriously shaped aquarium with exotic fish made the centrepiece to the front of the cafe. To me, the 'cafe' wasn't exactly catering for my personal preferences very well. The food was all a bit TOO exotic, but i finally settled on steak and chips. I ordered the steak well-done, but it arrived at my seat cooked rare. So rare in fact, that i think it wasn't even dead yet. Pointing out the mistake to the next passing waiter, it was quickly corrected in the following 5 minutes. Not a good start, but it could get better. It Didn't. The Rainforest cafe is loud, very loud. Every 5 minutes or so the life-like elephant models situated on the boundaries of the eating area activate, and as our seats were directly next to them, you get a sharp blast in the ear every time, which isn't my idea of comfort. However, watching other people's reactions to them were quite amusing, as young children came up and sat right next to the elephants for a photo, but were quickly surprised when they activated again. That particular moment is not one i'd forget quickly. As if they had tried a bit TOO hard, thunderstorms also occur every now and again. The lights dim and the sound rolls out. Personally i didn't like it. I was tired out and had nowhere near enough energy as some of the people in there, so the noise and activity was too much at the time.
Hmm, i seem to be going off topic. right, back to the hotel.

Returning to a hotel as calm, organised and refined as the Disneyland Hotel is a pleasure, ESPECIALLY as it's right there, and no stressful shuttle buses are required to get back to your residence. This is the real strong point in this hotel - It's in the middle of it all, well within even an OAP's walking distance, and that's something to consider when you book your rooms in this grand hotel. During some nights, an entertainer will often attend the nearby piano outside the Fantasia Bar, where all drinks are found - anything from Cola to Red Wine, and a bit more. As the hotel is built as flat as possible, Disabled people will have as much a good time as anyone else. Their needs are catered for by lifts and flat walkways with no incline at all - good for wheelchairs, even better for tired feet.

During one morning, we were feeling lazy, so we decided to exploit the Room Service part of the package. Within moments a tray of hot water, milk, sugars of many types and a plate of both familiar and wierd-looking biscuits (which were quite good) had arrived. They really do put the effort in at this hotel, because they go above and beyond for you. Even arriving at the hotel our bags were taken away by a member of staff and delivered to our rooms safe and sound. Speaking of which, you don't get a key for your room, you get a card. The card is swiped into a small slot beside the door handle, and opens the door for you - locking again once it's closed. We've never experienced this kind of system in a hotel before, but at least it shows that Disneyland are keeping up with technology, although i can question it's practicality and reliability over the traditional lock-and-key method.

Now, about those cleaners. One night we came back to find that our beds had been made, our lights were on, and the telly was active. Burglary? Heh, nope. We narrowed it down to a simple routine cleaning that the staff had going, even though we were told nothing about it. This left us with a strange feeling, as anything, ANYTHING in those rooms could have been taken, but we were relieved to see that nothing was damaged or stolen.

However, at home after our visit, it turned out that my brother had left his wallet in the hotel room, containing £100, and a whole bunch of credit cards and club cards, and so after a whole pack of cards were cancelled and replaced, we sent a letter requesting the return of the wallet. Sure enough, it arrived through the post days after containing all the cards - but the £100 was absent. Perhaps the cleaner decided to do a bit of 'dusting' for herself? or maybe the bag-transporter decided he needed quite a large tip. An unexpected occurence, it raises big questions concerning the staff's trustworthiness.

The Hotel has a Pool featuring a Jacuzzi. As our rooms were very closeby, we though we'd try it out. You feel pampered as soon as you make your way down in the Bath Robe they kindly provide you with in your room closets. The pool is clean and polished, much like the rest of the hotel. Hygiene is also a focus, as a small sprinkler unit lightly soaks your feet as you walk into the pool area, which is also a strange feeling, as we've never had this kind of thing in any other place we've stayed. The jacuzzi is moderately sized, and is raised above the pool, with a short wall shielding any splashes that might come from the pool, may anyone be trying to swim a bit too hard!
In the corridor leading to the pool is the Games Room. Although lacking in size and features, The air hockey table in the centre kept it alive a bit, and it's also quiet most of the time, meaning you can squeeze off a few games knowing that you don't need to 'hurry' it.

Despite one setback, the hotel was flawless. every single thing on the list had been covered with 'above and beyond' style, and i highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to disneyland. You'll feel like a king/queen as soon as step into the rather grand reception hall.

Sounds nice - comprehensive review. Good job your brother cancelled his credit cards bearing in mind his money went missing. sue

Wow that was a long one! Good review, plenty of info. Would re-rate to a vh if it was structured more in sections (reads a bit like a story rather than a review) & punctuation corrected. Maybe even an e, who knows, there's plenty of info here! Still, it's fantastic for one so new as it stands! love Sharron xxx
