Call me a big kid, but I love Disneyland Paris. As a family we have stayed in the Cheyanne Hotel, Sequilla Lodge and Newport Bay on several occassions but when my husband and I decided to have a 5 day break sans kids we opted to stay in the fantastic Disneyland Hotel - what a wonderful experience !!
Booking the hotel was no differnet than booking any othe Disneyland hotel - their website is very easy to navigate and booking takes only a few minutes, but everything about the Disneyland Hotel was far superior to the other Disney hotels we have used.
Your first view of the Disneyland Hotel is a pink palace built in Colonial American style with a turn-of-the-century” Victorian feel, with red-tile turrets and jutting balconies, it is very impressive.
As our taxi pulled up at the hotel we were greeted by an extremely smart and helpful bell boy with a very classy luggage trolley, who greeted us, loaded our luggage and took us to reception - entering on the red carpet I flt like a film star.
As you enter the reception for the first time I challenge you not to utter the word 'Wow', it is absolutely incredible.
The lobby was so much bigger than I thought it would be with an impressive high ceiling complete with a Cinderellas chandellier hanging beautifully in the middle. Comfortable looking leatherarmchairs and sofas were scattered in the centre, surrounded by polished oak tables with
glass display cases featuring a different Disney puppets,a huge sweeping staircase looked as if it was just waiting for Cinderella to run down it, there were plush carpets and delicate, soft pastel coloured walls. The decor and the staff were all based on a Victorian theme - the staff dressed in pastel pink, there was Disney music playing, the whole room was tastefully filled with little Disney details and characters and there was a heavenly floral spray ( I found out later that all the carpets are sprayed daily) Check in was extremely quick and easy- far quicker than we have experienced in the other Disney hotels, and we were even given a Fast Pass ticket per person/ per day for any attraction, our bags were taken to our room - all the staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly.
When we were shown to our room to say that we were very, very pleased is an understatement. The room looked out over the gardens and pool and it was everything I had expected it to be and more. The room was very big and elegantly decorated in pale pastel colours, in one corner was a huge bed complete with a bedspread featuring all the Disney Fairies (Tinkerbell, The Three Fairies from Sleeping Beauty and The Blue Fairy). There was an oak cupboards with tinkerbell carved in the centre, a very very pale green sofa in the other corner next to a huge window which was hung with heavy velvet curtains. It was air conditioned and contained all the usual modern conveniences you would expect form a high class hotel, including a television with a few international channels, a radio, air-conditioning, a minibar (although the prices were a bit horrendous), a safe, and 24-hour room service. As with most continental hotels there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms but it was possible to hire a kettle from reception if you wanted one. The bathroom was equally impressive with its huge gold framed mirror, complete carved with the 7 dwarves, with twin basins on a marble countertop and tiles with detail of the hippo in a ballet tutu from Fantasia There were loads of soft, fluffy towels, bathrobes and Disney themed toiletries - which were replaced daily.
Before bed we spent the evening in the Cafe Fantasia bar, this is a grown-ups’ piano bar with a great range of cocktails, coffee etc, nibbles on the table and features a great selection a piano music playing in the background and a balcony overlooking the park. When we returned toour room we found that there was a 'turn down'service complete with chocolate mint Mickey coins on our pillows.
The hotel has 3 restaurants; California Grill, Inventions, and Café Fantasia, we had our breakfast in The Inventions Restaurant amongst some Disney Characters that were walking around greeting people. Breakfast was quite a causal buffet offering a wide range of excellent foods - cereals, fruits, breads, cheeses, hams, bacon, sausages and the nicest scrambled eggs I have ever been served as well as drinks. There was plenty of food, as the staff were replenishing the buffet tables constantly.
The hotel shop was good and as well as the normal Disney merchandise it sold water/soft drinks and some other essentials,it was open late which helped as we didn't have to waste time during the park hours; and I never fely as if the staff were pushing me to purchase any thing. There was also has a indoor swimming pool complex with gymnasium, jacuzzi, sauna, massage parlour and solarium but we did not use these facilities so I can't comment on then. The food in the hotel is expensive but of a good quality, n the evening, the Inventions Restaurant offers a buffet selection that is about £20 per person for as much as you can eat. The California Grill, offers a range of typically Californian dishes, including lots of fish choices. This is not the cheapest restaurant, but the food and service are excellent.
The best part of staying in the Disneyland Hotel is that it is located right at the entrance to Disneyland park with its own entrances to the park.It is also only about three minutes walk from Walt Disney Studios Park we loved the luxury of being in the park in a few minutes and we would go back to the hotel several times a day, just to take a cup of coffee, get warm and relax. There is also the added bonus of extra hours in the park that are available only to Disney hotel guests. Another advantage is that you can walk straight onto all Fast Pass rides, whenever, however many times you like with your special pass.
On our last day, we packed our cases and went to breakfast . After breakfast we went back to the room and phoned down to reception where they sent someone to collect our luggage while we went to the park to spend our last day luggage free. The hotel is expensive, our 5 day break for two in October cost over £1100 for the hotel , breakfats and tickets; personaly I think that if you were going with young children it may not be worth it as you probably won't spend that much time in the hotel but more in the parks.
But I would say if you can afford it and you want a special treat it is well worth the money for the burst of excitment you get everytime you look out of the window.

Advantages: Very clean, Themed throughout, Tidy, Pleasant all-over. Disadvantages: 'Games Room' was lacking, Minibar was damn expensive, little insecure about cleaners.
