O.K., there's nothing you can do about the weather. I know you're supposed to "take the weather with you", but there is nothing more miserable than standing in a crowd in the pouring rain waiting for some cretin dressed as Mickey Mouse to let you go and spend half a day traipsing round his miserable kingdom. It's a shame they changed the name of this place - "Eurodisney" more successfully imparts the desired level of naffness. I suppose if you've got children it might be tolerable as most of the rides involve sitting in a sedate little car and getting driven round a track with moving animals and figures at the sides. There are some more exciting ones, I admit, but you can go to Blackpool if you really want to loop the loop that desperately. What was unusual is that they seemed to have acquired a job lot of plastic skeletons - appropriate maybe for a ride with a pirate theme, but they kept cropping up in the most unlikely places.
Food was inevitably expensive and the pub, called "Billy Bop's Bar" or something equally memorable, was uninhabited and cold. There is plenty of opportunity to waste your money on Mickey-esque tat and not much else to do after you've been round the whole place's attractions twice and ended up in Billy's before lunch time. I fail to see any magic in Disney. We all know it's a cold-hearted corporation desperate to get its hands on our money and the European manifestation is just a tacky, cynical waste of an afternoon when the beauties of Paris are so close at hand.
