I went to Disneyland Paris last year with my husband and three children. We arrived after quite a long drive. The only real problem we faced was that the tour operator told us it was a 20 minute drive once off the ferry, but 5 hours later we finally got there. We stayed in the new lodge that had just been built and I can't remeber the name - it had a shipping theme and there were rooms that could cater for up to 10 people unlike the hotels. This is difficult when you have a family of 5 and the hotels cater for only 4.
Anyway, we were greeted very kindly and shown to our rooms by kind helpful staff. We went straight onto a bus within minutes and straight to the park. The children were overjoyed to see Main Street USA and we went straight into the huge castle which has a dragon underneath that breathes fire. There were plenty of Disney characters there to see and almost immediately we saw Mickey and Minnie riding on a car.
We stayed five days and four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We had a character breakfast one morning with the Disney characters and there were again plenty of the characters there to see. They all came and sat with the children and played with them whilst the children had breakfast. They signed autographs and really made the children laugh.
The best bit was that my 6 year old son had written a letter for Mickey and Donald Duck. We gave one to Mickey and he really fussed over my son and cuddled him and spent ages with him making him laugh etc. We didn't see Donald our whole time there so on the last day we handed the letter to a member of staff asking if they would kindly give it to Donald for us.
We then went home sad to leave. The food was fantastic although a bit expensive but it was worth it to see the look on our childrens faces. The accomadation was fantastic and we always had helpful staff who couldn't help us enough. There were plenty of things to do the whole time and the different lands were fantastic. Our children were never bored.
The best bit was when three weeks after arriving home my son got a letter addressed to him from DisneylandParis. He opened it and it was a letter from Donald Duck with a photo of Donald, Mickey, Goofy etc. There were about 7 characters and they had signed the photo above their pictures. My son was delighted and I found this a great gift for him and it showed us all that the letter had been handed to Donald and he had kindly replied. A great place to visit and well worth the money.

Advantages: easily accessible from Paris, great decor and a very good overall experience Disadvantages: fairly expensive, long lines and better for children than adults
