hi there we have just come back from a fantastic 2night,3 day visit to disneyland paris and i wanted to share our fantastic experience with you all. Firstly if you are going to visit then go between now and march 2008 as kids under 7 go free including hotel stay and the 15th anniversary parades are magical.
GETTING THERE We decided to drive so booked with P&O and did the dover to calais crossing and then it was very much straight forward,u just follow the signs to paris which are clearly visable from the moment you get out of the calais terminal, you then hit a motorway which until we hit it we did not realise it was a toll road(it cost 19 euros from calais to paris)which is around £13-£14 pound which may sound pricey but it was so quiet and straight forward it was worth it.Once you get near to paris you pick up the disneyland signs you cannot miss it.
THE HOTEL we
stopped at the santa fe disney hotel which is the budget one out of them all,it was basic but very nice and clean. When we arrived we booked in nice and smoothley our room was ready for 12.30(if you book over the internet and pay fully for the hotel before you get there your rooms have priorty over the others and 9 times out of 10 your room is ready before 1pm). the room had a two double beds, the bathroom had shower/bath which was great(first budget hotel ive been in where you get both) The complementery breakfast was a lovely conitental with plenty of freshly baked bread, meats cereals for the kids coffee, tea, milk and orange juice whenever you wanted it.The canteen was massive but the best time for breakfast is 7.30 as after 8 it got really really busy(you get to pick your breakfast slots when you check in,they give you a card to keep with you and hand in at breakfast)We never had an evening meal in the santa fe but there was an all you could menu for around 20 euros per person.
DISNEY VILLAGE This was a fantastic area just outside the two parks with restaurants, bars and shops.plenty to do in the evenings once the park had shut,i would reccommend that if you have little ones then book into cafe micky for one of your meals whilst there as its well worth the money, its 15 euros for kiddes meal, drink and pudding plus they get to keep their plastic cafe mickey drinks beakers and also the sweet menu is a buffet where you go up and pile on your plate what you like(doghnuts, yougurts, sweets etc)theres also a supprise gift at the table.adults menu ranges from 15-30 euros with plenty to choose from. Also the charcters come in and walk around to every table for great photo opportunities with out the hassel of having to barge your way past the crowds we had 10 different charcters in the cafe whilst we were there they come in every 30 minutes it was great. We also brought the girls an autograph book each from one of the shops in the disney village and they almost filled it with the different charcters signitures(a must for the little ones to get chance to say hello and have there pictures taken with the characters around the two parks.
DISNEYLAND PARK this is a great park it tock us 1 and a half days to do this one and even then we didnt see everything, the best ones for our children who are 3 and 4 were the dumbo rides, the peter pan flight where you sit in a boat and it takes you through the story of peter pan.Small world was our favourite where you sit in a boat and it takes you through some of the magical places in the world with lots of teddys and plastic animations the song is great but it does stick in your head after a while.there are so many rides and plenty for every one. This park is split up into four area Adventure land pirates and indianna jones rides,Frontierland-based on the wild west with rides like thunder mountain(rollercoaster) Discoveryland-buzz lightyear and rocket ship rides and the kids favourite Fantasyland with such things as the snow white ride, sleeping beautys castle etc.I could go on and on but it is great and you can also get a fast pass which is free and enables you to get on the rides quicker if you are prepared to get to certain areas and certain times. A must though is the lion king show which is in discoverland and lasts for 20 minutes its magical and very well done
WALT DISNEY STUDIOS this is the second park and takes a day to do everthing, theres a brilliant stunt show which even my four year old loved its based on the stunts seen in movies like gone in 60 seconds and has plenty of fast cars, motorbikes and explosions very well done.We also tock the girls to see the animagic show which is done in the dark but were everything on stage is like illuminous where donald duck host the show its great for kids and adults truely amazing.thers a great rockin roller coater for you adrenlin junkies out there based on aerosmiths music, and also armageddon special effects ride like a 3d cinema but loads better, and my fav studio tram tour which is a train that takes you through the park and you end up being in what is like a real life earthquake and an explsion the effects are amazing.
SUMMING IT UP in both parks there are plenty of restaurants and fast food outlets to suiet every budget, theres also plenty of photo and autograph opportunitys with the characters with out having to spend 20 euros to get a special one(nice though if you have got a few euros put aside) All in all if i had the time off and the money i would go again this year ,we all ahd a magical time one we will never forget.
Great to read this as I'm taking my 2yr old next month! Bit nervous as it's really meant for slightly older children but determined to have a good time anyways. Elle x
