Accommodation in Hausgesund can be very difficult to come by. It is an industrial area with a large port and gas processing facilities that supply gas to northern europe and the UK. Hence at busy industrial times accomodation in town is sparse. Because of a ship being refitted in town we were forced to take accomodation in Ditt Tysaer Kro And Motel.

I'm not aware that there is a website associated with this hotel and in fact when it came to booking I dont think we even saw a picture of the hotel or the rooms! Booking therefore is best by telephone.

The view in the morning is beautiful (assuming it is summer and not winter when the sun rises too late to enjoy it) a large picturesque fjord and beautiful fresh air make even the heaviest hangover go away!
The main problem with the motel is the distance from Haugesund, the taxi journey cost around £40 each way, but the area isn't the cheapest place. Beer cost around £5 a pint and we had one two course meal in the Steak haus in town for around £60 a head for food and a couple of drinks.
The distance isn't a problem though if you are planning on going to work on the gas site as it is around the half way point from the airport. Just not ideal if you are wanting to spend time in town.
