Dollar Rent A Car Worldwide

This is not a review it is our experience with dollar car hire.

Some people like to rent a car when they are on holiday and recently I have been on
holiday in California (I actually wrote this review in California but I forgot to type it up.) so when we got to California we decided to rent - a - car from a place called Dollar rent a car, we had been traveling for over 48 hours already (from Liverpool to Heathrow and to LA.) But before we went my Mum had booked a car for 50.80 pounds that was not including insurances.

When we had arrived at dollar hire head quarters in LA we had brought a slip of confirmation this showed basically that she had paid for the car over the internet. When we got there she asked for a quote on how much the car and all the insurances would come to, after all of everything it came to about $420 which is about equivalent of about 210 pounds these was with insurances these covered all sorts of things really:

• If you got hit by another car
• If an uninsured car hits you.
• If you kill someone (In an accident)
• If your car gets stolen

But the person in dollar car hire who was serving us didn't give us much option about which insurances to take and practically forced us to go for the more expensive one so we had to pay for that! So after that eventually we got the car and we was on our way to the hotel.

One week later my Dad arrived in LA so it was back of to the dollar car hire place to get him insured to drive the car. Once we had explained to him about the amount of money we had to pay for our insurances he had a bit of a row and cancelled a few of them off. So our purpose of going back is to get my Dad insured to drive the car BUT oh no we have to get a new contract because you cannot add people on to the contract which is fair (I suppose.) Eventually after all that they said that we hadn't paid for the car which set off a big argument you may think that we had the confirmation slip but we gave that in. So we had to dig out another $420 dollars and after that we were so tired and just agreed with them.

As I had mentioned at the start this is not a review of dollar car hire but just our experience in conclusion we think dollar car hire are one of the worst companies.
