This is Milton Keynes' activity swimming pool. It is located in Shenley, which is most easily accessible by car, but also by bus from the Centre:MK. During peak opening times, flumes, wave machines, rapids and jacuzzis are in operation. There are also various fountains and a water mushroom. One good thing about this pool is the very gentle slope into the water. It is designed to look like a beach and is therefore very suitable for young children. For older children there are regular wave machines that cause big waves at one side of the pool and a gentler lapping of waves at the beach end. There are two flumes, the green one is suitable for younger children as it is much gentler. The red one has an age restriction on 12 on it, as it is considerably faster. A word of warning here, its best to shut your eyes and cover your head with your arms as the end can be slightly vicious. Unfortunately these flumes often develop very long queues, so its best to time your visit carefully. Rapids surround an island and there are often large floats around the sit on. This is a good speed, however it is also prone to becoming overcrowded. The jacuzzis sit above the pool, so are ideal for parents of older children to watch from. The lockers require a token, so remember to collect one from reception in the way in! Prices for entry are more expensive than most pools but not too bad considering whats on offer. A cafe is available to serve food, however I would advise against using it for anything more than snacks and drinks. To conclude, this can make a fun few hours, particularly for children, so if you have spare time it's worth a visit. Don't go out of your way to see it though, as there are better activity pools if you venture further afield.
