Dom Pedro Marina Hotel, Vilamoura

...I have staying the Dart Marina three times now and I feel I need to share my experience with you. Lets put it simply the start with, the hotel is brilliant. There is no other word to describe it. It is right on the seafront and within a pleasurable walking range to Dartmouth. It has outstanding views across the sea with regular yaughts coming into the marina. The team of staff are friendly, helpful and see to your every need. The chef, who I have met, is a brilliant cook and has produced several different and amazing dishes from local produce each time I have been there. The rooms are immaculate and stylish with TV, radio, en-suite and several complimentary items. The facilities, which include a spa, swimming pool and gym, are state of the art and enjoyable to use. ...We'd had some pretty good hotels on our trip to Andalucia, and we hoped that the hotel we had picked for our final three days wouldn't be any different. We wanted a comfortable room in a hotel on the beach with a nice sea view, but nothing too remote so that we could still enjoy all the facilities of a resort. Did we get what we wanted? Well, read on... We booked the HOTEL PERLA MARINA, in the town of NERJA, through bancotel.com. This is a Spanish based travel site whereby you purchase 'cheques' for 50 euros each. Depending on the hotel, season etc, a room costs between 1-3 cheques per night. This can mean savings of over 60% in some cases. Being the intrepid bargain hunter (some would say tight-fisted git) that I am, I managed to book a series of 3 and 4 star hotels for 50 euros. This hotel was no exception. Nerja is around... ...Last year I had a very unique opportunity to work in another country. I normally work at St Paul's Cathedral and got the chance to work in the Berlinerr Dom (Berlin Cathedral) for a week as an English tour guide. I was living right on top of my work place, as I was staying in a guest apartment in the cathedral's bell tower. I fell in love with Berlin and its cathedral so thought I would give you a virtual tour of this amazing building. Take a pew and sit back and enjoy. The Berlinerr Dom is very easy to get to as it is located in the central district of Mitte just by the Museum Island (where all the major museums are in Berlin).
