Advantages: Good location for visiting the Périgord, interesting old building
Disadvantages: Needs more restoration, a bit over-priced, the restaurant

...in a room too small for us and our stuff did not appeal, so after a quick conference we asked if there was anything a little larger. There were 3 possibilities. So on our and your behalf I inspected 3 more rooms. Le Chevalier was very grand, complete with massive fireplace, wooden beams and a superb view over the grounds, and we were tempted. La Boudeuse was nice but a bit anonymous. Finally we opted for Bara Bahau - lovely and light, decorated in pale yellow, with a high ceiling curving away to a mansard forming an alcove in one corner. [Palaeolithic experts out there will recognise the name Bara Bahau as a well known painted cave in Le Bugue itself. The words are Langue d'Oc and signify a great noise, such as must have been made by the rockfall which blocks off the end of the cave system. Thought you'd like to know that.] Back... Read review

Advantages: Fantastic rooms, friendly staff, great location
Disadvantages: some of the other guests seem to think their a bit special!

...the hotel groups website, by calling a central reservations number, by calling the hotel directly and most likely through your locale travel agents alothough i wouldn't recommend this as it will work out much more expensive that contacting the hotel directly. I would definatly recommend a visit to this hotel especially for a special occassion, the staff are always friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile, for example several times they've made food for me not on the menu just because i enquired as to whether they did do it or not. Also if you have an american express card you can often get deals on buy one get one night free in de vere hotels, and sometimes a free upgrade (the reason i got junior suites both time!)... ...The De Vere Grand hotel Brighton is an impressive hotel, part of the De Vere chain of over 25 luxury hotels. The De Vere website www.devere.co.uk has lots of information on the hotel and also some special offers. It is located on the Sea Front in close proximity to all of Brighton's major attractions. The hotel has approximately 200 rooms, ranging from singles, to doubles to doubles with sea views to deluxe doubles with seaviews to suites. Prices range from £80 for a single B & B to £250 B &B for a sea view deluxe to £530 for a suite. I stayed in a Sea view deluxe, checking in on a Saturday and leaving after lunch on the following Sunday. I ate in the hotel for breakfast and Sunday lunch. The Hotel looks Grand when you arrive.
