Disadvantages: When rounded up, it can be quite pricey!

The best Holiday Resort I have ever been in Mauritius is The Domaine Les Pailles. As I briefly mentioned in one of my previous reviews, this is a humongous holiday resort which stretches out for miles and miles, and comprises of activities, fun and cuisine for every ages and tastes. It is situated at Pailles, a small town just a few minutes before Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius. Finding the road to Domaines Les Pailles turned out to be quite difficult because there is one specific corner road we had to turn into and we kept missing roads! But once we got into the road which would take us to the resort, it was as if we'd immediately been shut out of the real world. Mirador Des Concrete Works!

Mirador Des Concrete Works! We decided to spend a long weekend in Minorca?s Capital, Mahon and found this hotel through Octopus Travel; we paid £454.00 for 4 night?s bed and breakfast for three adults in a triple room over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. Location: 8½/10 The Hotel is situated in a nice quiet residential area about ten minutes walk from the centre of Mahon and only 5kms from the airport. It is set on a cliff above the port which can be reached down a long and steep road at the back of the hotel or by a large set of steps from the centre of the city. Appearance: 8½/10 Quite modern and well kept, with a large terrace area at the side. Parking: 0/10 None! What's in a domain name?

Advantages: Good location for visiting the Périgord, interesting old building
Disadvantages: Needs more restoration, a bit over-priced, the restaurant

almost impossible to get a proper view of it and inside it is a bit dark and with no view across these lovely grounds it is sitting in. There is a small and not very attractive terrace. Inside it is small and intimate (i.e. the tables are too close together) and the ambience was a little subdued, although every table was occupied. Nevertheless the meal was very good: 4 courses and an amuse-bouche, including a historic (with apologies to Michael Winner) cream of fennel soup and delicious filet de sandre (pike). As half-boarders we were directed to the 36? menu "Fresh from the day's market" which had two choices per course (except the soup). Wine and coffee was of course extra but the wine list was varied with a good selection of half-bottles. The problem arose the next day.
