There's a lot of dodginess that goes on outside the club, with unlicensed mini cabs, boy racers racing up the dual carriageway, and sleazy guys trying to entice drunk girls into their cars. year.
Queues can get quite long on a Friday or Saturday night so wrap up warm. Bouncers aren't fussy about girls. Large groups of blokes may have trouble getting in.
You *have* to put your coat/jacket in the cloak room, which is £1 per item.
In the entrance to the club, there's a gaming area with fruit machines and ski-ing/driving games, as well as a small fast food restaurant.
You have to climb a set of stairs to enter the club, so I don't think the club is accessible to people in wheelchairs.

Sometimes you can get away with climbing up into these and having a boogie, other times the bouncers ask you to get down. Some nights they have professional dancers in skimpy clothing dancing on the podiums.
There's lots of toilets, on each level, although by midnight they are usually semi minging, with queues and no loo paper left. The same as any club really, and I have experienced far worse. I have even seen cleaners in the Dome, which is quite a shock!
The ladies toilets in the entrance, next to the cloakroom, are worth mentioning as they are very striking. When you enter you walk into a large domed room, with gilded mirrors surrounding the walls and a Greek looking statue in the middle. Ver surreal when you have had a drink, especially as all the other toilets are perfectly normal.
There are numerous bars, from big long ones to tiny ones with just one member of bar staff. I can think of at least 5, although they are not all always open. They sell all the usual club pints and bottles, at average club prices of about £3 per drink. Waiting times at the bars can be excessive when the club is busy.
There is a "VIP" bar right on the top level of the club, although I have been there so you obviously don't need to be much of a VIP to get in. The top level also has a lot of comfortable seating where you can sit and have a chat.
The music depends on the night. Typical "Dome" music is your average tacky club-fare, chart stuff, dance, trance, RnB, classic 70's tunes, that kind of stuff. The student nights have more cheese music as well as more of a dance feel. The used to have a DJ called Pete Deacon who did really good trance mixes on a Thursday but in general, the DJ just plays there and doesn't really mix.
There's a higher than average ratio of sleazy guys at the Dome.
The lighting system over the dance floor is pretty nice. I don't know technical terms, but they move up and down and have lasers and change colour.
The Dome is nothing special in all honesty, but if you go there knowing what it is, you can enjoy yourself. If you go there expecting class, good mixing and the "beautiful people", you will be disappointed. I would recommend it for a night out in Birmingham because it's cheap and you can have a good laugh there, it makes a change from the bars of Broad Street. But you will get 15 year old boys coming up to you saying "my mate fancies you, will you get off with him"..It's *that* kind of club.
Advantages: Great Venue, Excellent Music, Cheap Prices, and Great fun for eveyone! Disadvantages: Sometimes can get pretty packed out so it may seem hot sometimes!.
The Dome II Nightclub in Birmingham has to be one of the best ever clubs around!. With it's amazing size, the atmosphere generated is immaculate!. The club has 2 student nights a week Monday's and Thursdays, along with a 70's revival night held on Fridays whilst saving the best til last, a Dance Nation evening on Saturday evenings. Mondays is known as Zoo night where the DJ carries a TV camera round with him and interviews entrants going into the ... ...hard house and garage music played brings out the best of everyone!. The amount of times I have been there and bumoed into people I know is brilliant. You are always guaranteed to know someone whenever you go to the Dome II Nightclub!. Its only not really any good if its not full but that never happens on Friday and Saturday. The music is brilliant, and the stage show for ...

...A SAD DAY WHEN THE DOME CLOSES DOWN , WHERE HAS MONDYA MUULA GONE WHERE HAVE ALL THE FIT BIRDS GONE . The dome was a quality venue it was big a perfect arena type shape where u could walk around and sit in many places. The music was always good and the people and atmosphere was exceptional. The small cafe was brilliant for a little sit down and always provided people with a laugh . People said it was cheesy but it was fun and a great time out. For ...
Advantages: themed nights, Happy hour booze, good atmos, excellent accustics Disadvantages: frantic, sweaty, crowded, noisy.....nah thats all part the fun!!!!
...since I last dropped by Dome 2, (Or simply, Dome, as it was once called years ago).
After some convincing from the motley crew I work with I said yes to a visit Monday night rather than the more frenzied saturdays. What a surprise!!!!!
Even though Mondays is a Student Night (SN) the atmosphere was still electric with an enthusiastic audience and a roving DJ and his videocamera interviewing people and generally sneaking up behind you in case you're ... ...the following morning.
The Dome 2 is a big, big club, a little chintsy perhaps but good all the same. But what about the music. I can't comment on what themes they play for the rest of the week although as you might expect Saturday is the mad one where dance, garage, techno is the order of the day. But for monday's its primarily a combo of dance, rock, 80s & a bit of smooth blues for those "special" moments.
The dancefloor can get a bit crowded ...

Advantages: Brilliant Tune, Brilliant Sound System, Excellent Artwork Disadvantages: Its A Not So Good But Cheaper Version Of The Works
The Dome II is free til 11:30pm and open til 3am all weekend.
With 2 rooms, you can either club to House/Dance style music in the main room, or vibe to the RnB/Hip:Hop in the upstairs room.
I am a future DJ at The Dome II, just doing a couple of hours for my mate who DJ's on a Saturday in the RnB room.
With being in the club from opening time til when it shuts, i must admit, it is a bit dead with no atmosphere at the moment, but this is because ... ...basically, everyone should go The Dome to get it back to its potential.
Its cheap
Special drink offers all night
Free entry til 11:30pm

Advantages: Great night out Disadvantages: none really
When I was a student in Birmingham Brannigans was one of the first places I went to for a night on the town. I had been to places such as DomeII, where there were blokes in Ben Sherman shirts everywhere I looked! I really wanted to find somewhere more individual so I didn't have to try and pretend to be trendy.
My first impression was a good one because I discovered that it cost nothing to get in with an NUS card. I was so pleased bearing in mind it costs so much to get into most places!!
When I got inside I was delighted-none of the thumping horrible 'music' (noise more like) that I'd heard everywhere else, but wonderful, marvelous pure cheese! Abba, Sclub 7, Jackson five, Wham, Take That, you name it they played it!! The dance floor was heaving, everyone was singing, It was such fun. They also have a stage that anyone can get ...

Advantages: good atmosphere at first Disadvantages: it went bad after
Exciles has been shut down for about 2 years now but that ain't gonna stop me telling you all what you missed. It was really a mini Dome it opened when the dome shut for refurbishments and continued with the same charty dance music and sexy girls who'd just grab yer. Unfortunatly when the Dome reopened as DomeII, Exiles went a bit downhill clientel wise because basically the people who went there were the people who got turned away from the Dome ie. moody kids, so it often kicked off on the dancefloor. Its one of those places with lots of stairs and balconies and it wasnt unusual to see some greesey oink take the quick route down to the dancefloor. ...
Advantages: Shops, jobs, road layout, Disadvantages: House prices, some rough areas, but everywhere has them i suppose.
Been living in Milton Keynes since January, and had to move here because of a new job. Its a unique place, in that it is a city set out like a grid. This means its easy to navigate, and all the main roads are either H or V numbered (horizontal or vertical)
Rented a property initially, which was reasonable at £425 a month, in a nice area called Loughton. But once we started to look for property, as 1st time buyers, it was soon discovered you get a pokey pad for you 75 grand. Most houses for sale are relatively new, and pricy too. There are many dodgy areas, where you would not choose to live unless forced too, those near the centre in particular.
The centre has a huge indoor shopping complex, and its extension is close to completion. Also the city centre has many bars and restaurants, and 2 multiplex cinemas, and of course the new Ski ...
