Advantages: great weather for just a 5 1/2 hour flight, value for money
Disadvantages: hassle from shopkeepers

and MST tours were our hosts, the local reps were fantastic and as they are all Egyptian they are very respected by and have a good relationship with the hoteliers. I can totally recommend them as they provide a full rep service in resort, which you don't get most of the time if you book independently. So I knew very little of Sharm and was a bit apprehensive as the closest place I had been was Tunisia and I hated it. But I was so surprised I really did love the place and the highlight for me was the snorkelling, I was totally blown away by it. As well as snorkelling from the hotel's beach (we stayed at the Sultan Gardens) we went on a boat trip to Tiran Island and here we snorkelled in the morning and afternoon and for lunch we had BBQ'd fish that had just been caught for us. Sharm el Sheikh - first time impressions

Advantages: good value for money, the best for diving and snorkelling, friendly people
Disadvantages: "Come sign my guestbook"

Me and my partner just returned from a 8 days holiday in Sharm el Sheikh (Naama Bay). It was a wonderful experience - please read our review. ********** BOOKING ********** We booked via lastminute.com just 4 days before we went there - at £ 179 per person for 7 nights a real bargain. Included were: - flight with Astraeus (charter airline) from and to Gatwick - 7 nights accommodation incl. breakfast in the Ocean Bay Hotel - transfer from and to the airport in Sharm el Sheikh Travel insurance is included in our bank account arrangements, so we didn't need to buy. If you intend to go diving a lot, an extra insurance cover is advisable. After the booking we got contacted by the travel agency ('Explorers' - specialist in diving holidays). Pyramisa Resort, Sharm el Sheikh

Advantages: Clean hotel and very friendly staff
Disadvantages: Not up to 5* status

time we were there. If you ignore them and just get on with enjoying yourself and relaxing, you will be fine but by the end of it we did find ourselves letting doors slam shut behind us without worrying because we had it done to ourselves so many times! So in short, please don't believe all the bad reviews you read about this hotel. It isn't the most luxurious hotel in the world but for the money we paid for two weeks in an all inclusive resort, it was by no means horrible or the worst place we have visited and I feel that I should really stick up for it because it does seem to have been slated quite a lot. If you are looking for a proper 5 star luxury hotel with English food, Sky TV 24 hours a day and a home-from-home 'Brits abroad' style environment then don't choose this hotel.
