A Tallinn of Two Cities

Advantages: The residue of earlier centuries
Disadvantages: The residue of the Soviet era

-brewery in its cellar and looks interesting, but alas I never drank there. Tallinn is well-known for its cafés, and it was pleasant to take a break from sight-seeing over coffee at one or another of these. The one we liked best was out at Kadriorg, with an open-air terrace beside an ornamental lake at the entrance to the park, and exceedingly good cakes. In the centre, the Bonaparte on Pikk is justly famous for French-style patisserie. There are many places to stay in central Tallinn, from back-packer hostels to the swish and soulless clones of the international hotel chains. We had intended to stay at the Domina City, a traditional-style hotel in the centre, but they seemed to have confused our booking and after some argy-bargy we settled for being upgraded to a suite at a sister hotel, the 4-star Domina Ilmarine, an imaginatively ...

Premier Inn, Charing Cross Glasgow

Advantages: Close to town and all amenities
Disadvantages: none

I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend. The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home. The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep. We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice. Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from ...

Uniquestay Hotel Tallinn

Advantages: Great location, good price, free internet and well appointed rooms
Disadvantages: Not for those looking to party

Have just returned from a Conference in Tallinn and had the pleasure to stay in the Uniquestay Hotel. The price was £41 which was great especially as I took my 18yr old son so needed 2 rooms. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful and from the very first impressions it was a wise choice. My room was large, well decorated with wooden floors, tea and coffee making facilities and free computer and internet access. Breakfast was in their lovely restaurant and had a great choice even for vegetarians. The location was brilliant, just a short walk through a lovely park to the old town which is great for a city break with plenty of museums, lots of history, shopping centres, restaurants etc- would definitely visit again ...
