...Cana, Dominican Republic, read this!! Paradisus Punta Cana resort staff couldn't care less for its guests safety and wellbeing!! I would like to warn travellers who are traveling to Punta Cana about the bad experience we had at the Hotel Paradisus Punta Cana by Meliá this last July. We were robbed from the safety box in our room of all our cash and my wife´s credit card which was subsequently used in 5 different fraudulent store purchases that one ...
...evidence of violence (the safety box had been opened with a key, and locked again) that we should "just get cash with our other bank card, and just continue with our trip.!!" We received no apology nor satisfaction from the management, and have received no answer or explanation until this moment, and this is suposedly a 5 star hotel!! Rebooked after amazing Honeymoon

Advantages: Location, Food, Friendly People, Should be a 4/5*!
Disadvantages: None

My husband and I booked to go here on the recommendation of friends for our honeymoon 15th sept 2008. From check in to check out we could not fault anything about the trip. From getting off the coach on arrival we had our bags taken to the room and we're given a fruit cocktail as we joined the line to check in. The guys on reception were fast and pleasant. It was a standard room as we didn't know about the Hacienda Club rooms until later in the holiday however from talking to another guest on her 7th visit to the hotel there is very little difference between them. Riu Bachata, Dominican republic

Advantages: Friendly staff, clean hotel, good choice of food and fantastic weather
Disadvantages: Locals take over the place at the weekend

Victoria Beach and Golf Resort Dominican Republic

Advantages: Near the beach, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Poor management, insects in food, items stolen from rooms.

We stayed here in July 2008. The staff are lovely, friendly people who are over worked and underpaid. The bar and waiting staff are actually very clever people who speak many languages. They make most of their earnings from tips, so be generous (if you still want to go after reading this).
