Spent one night here at this two star hotel as we flew into Dusseldorf to begin a ten day trip starting on 10 July 2006. We picked up a rental car from the airport. We were lucky to be able to get on-street parking as we pulled up to the hotel. The hotel is somewhat on a side street near a large street but the side street was residential, which probably explained the tight parking situation. We did have to pay the parking machine a few euro's but we did not have any problems parking there overnight. Also in the vicinity are shops that sell stuff of the erotic or adult nature, so its location may not be the best for those with young children or those who may be offended by seeing such things.

My wife and I came along with a friend, so the three of us were in a double room. The room had a small foyer-like area with two bedrooms and bathroom. The whole place had dirty carpets that probably haven't seen a vacuum in a year. The beds were of decent size and cleanliness. Our room was the smaller one, with the full size bed taking up about half the room. Our friend's room was larger by maybe 25%, and had larger windows, so it was probably cooler in there (since we came in the summer, it was hot so we had to open the windows). We did not have any problems with noise from outside. We were able to get a wireless internet connection via an unsecured wireless network from some neighbors (perhaps).

The bathroom looked egregious with old cracked floor tiles, a small open dark window for a vent, an old looking bathtub and such. We were half expecting rats to come in the window since it was all dark and shady looking. However, the shower, toilet and sink did function normally and the bathroom did not stink or have any musty odor that I could smell. They did provide clean towels, plastic cups and shower gel packets.

Breakfast is included, which was the typical German breakfast. It was self-serve and you had your choice of German cold breakfast meats, cheeses and breads, as well as your cereal and milk, hot chocolate, or coffee. The breakfast room has a nice large window where you can see out to the main street and cross streets below.

The hotel's "lobby" is up on like the 4th or 5th floor or something (I believe the building doubles as an apartment complex perhaps) but fortunately there is a lift. The front door is always locked; after 10pm I am not sure if anyone staffs the lobby, so definitely don't forget your room key if you're going to be out late.

The hotel is located near major shopping thoroughfares which were reachable on foot. Although we did not stay there but for one night, we did get to see a little bit of the town and shop a bit without having to drive, which is a good thing (for us, anyway).

The room rate was 75 euros a night. Probably a decent hotel for those who are on business and like the convenience of nearby shopping and downtown, but not highly recommended for families as it's dirty and in a questionable looking neighborhood. We stayed only a night, so I guess we could live with it for that long.

Don't have pictures of the room (except for the bathroom, which I need to figure out how to upload), but there are pictures on the web if you search for the hotel.
