Domus Borgognona boasts a most privileged location in the historic centre of Rome, right next to the famous Spanish Steps, and offers superior, refined accommodation for leisure and business travellers.
Advantages: Good Location, Great Service, Clean, Friendly, Convienant! Disadvantages: Noisy road at night but where in Rome isn't!!!
...I have just returned from a 3 night stay in Rome at the Domus Inn, and am extremely happy. Domus Inn is a great little bed and breakfast in a very good location. It might not be right next to the Colosseum but with an array of buses that stop around the corner taking you to several key locations in the city, its all you need, The service is incredibly friendly and your breakfast is brought to you every morning. The hotels on a road so is noisy at night but you will unlikely find a hotel that isn...

Take a few hours and walk through the area with a good guidebook or get a guide to show you around. In the area you will find ruins like basilica of Constantine and Maxentius, Rostra, Temple of Saturn, Temple of Castor and Pollux, House of the Vestal Virgins, temple of Vespasian, temple of Julius Caesar etc. The list goes on and on actually and it seems like they are still working on excavations on different locations.
Tip! I think...

...When you go to a Europen capital you expect a certain of history. Paris may have 500 years of it, but Rome has over 2000 years of it making you see why it is called the eternal city.
Depending on how long you intend on going to Rome, you will need to decide beforehand on what sites to see. Firstly there are the ancient sites. These include the Collosium, Forum, Catacombs and Domus Aurea (which may be closed due to structural repairs).
Secondly there are the renaissance sites such as the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and the Vatican.
Thirdly there are a tremedous amount of shops around Rome and a particularly good parade leads directly from the Spanish Steps.
The best way to visit Rome is to pair up different sites. Some may need a day to see e.g. Vatican. But some such as the Spanish Steps should be done in the morning...
